They feel forgotten, they've been dealing with this for so long with no end in sight, can you imagine what they're going through?
People used to send them kind messages in appreciation for what they were doing, sending pizzas, Subway, etc. to the ED's but that all stopped.
We need them now more than ever.
Now, they're also dealing with a hostile public, can't wear scrubs to work any longer for fear of being beaten, get spit on daily, constantly being yelled at because they cannot save a loved one, etc.
Some are even bringing guns into ED's now, it's horrible.
Please don't forget them, they're getting sick and dying while trying to save the lives of others.
If you can afford to do so, send food (to be delivered to your local ED) we need for them to feel appreciated once again, we need them and their suffering is being forgotten.
Please don't forget them.

(572 posts)And now we are not a hero but a zero.
I have long covid as a result of caring for so many sick patients and working 60 day stretches because so many of us were sick or quit.
This was pre vax.
Now people just expect us to do it all over again this time. For nothing. For non vaxxers. For non vaxxers who don't care how many they kill. Even children.
I had covid and survived and I was SO sick. And now I have long haul covid and my life as I knew it is over.
But I am not sorry. I saved lives.
But this? To be sacrificed on the altar of this idiocy and depraved indifference for human life?
My heart breaks for my friends in nursing right now. It breaks for nurses who died of covid.
We aren't the story anymore. Non vaxxers have all the screen time and all the attention.
We prayed so much for a vaccine and never thought it would end up like this. 😢

(13,776 posts)Its still infuriating and awful and unfair that you are treated this way and not given the infinity of credit that you are due, but you are a beautiful soul who genuinely made the world a better place. Not in a small way but in a truly huge way. You are a superstar and decent people everywhere appreciate you to the moon and back.

(23,218 posts)Both of my young kids are physicians.
I stay up all night to hear their pleas throughout the night via text, they're have such emotional problems with intubating young children and babies, I try to offer them positivity though the tears of hearing what they're going through, every night.
I have long haul Covid as you and life as I once knew it is over. One of my kids does as well, but continues to work trying his best to save as many lives as he can, along with GSW's and other traumatic situations.
They both feel so forgotten, as well as their colleagues and it breaks my heart.
They were all so excited when vaccines became available but never expected "this."
You're in my thoughts.

I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around why willfully unvaxed or abusive patients are even allowed in hospitals or on the grounds!

(12,880 posts)The MAGATs are abusing them and threatening their lives.
That crosses the line, BIG time.
The willfully unvaccinated should be refused treatment.
Period.

(20,747 posts)but healthcare workers have already taken the first hits. Problem is, many nurses are anti-vaxxers, as well.
