Students across the U.S. are starting another school year under a cloud of uncertainty as the delta strain of the coronavirus rips through the country, threatening to disrupt plans for a second consecutive academic year.
The pandemic's unpredictability has sparked high anxiety among children and teachers alike as they attempt to return to in-person school for the first time since March 2020, with lingering fears that COVID-19 could jeopardize educational routines again.
The back-to-school season has left children and families with mixed feelings. Many are excited to return to in-person class after months of virtual learning, while some adults are keeping a wary eye on rising pediatric cases and hospitalizations.
Already, schools in 19 states have sent at least 90,000 students to quarantine, while others have shut down, just days and weeks into the year.

(13,620 posts)school. At the very least, go back to part in-person part online. Masks and distancing as well, if they must go to school.
No one is saying anything though. We have to let the COVIDiots learn the hard way at everyone else's expense. If they even bring it to a school board meeting, they know they will have a mob of angry, ignorant, filthy, desease spreading vermin. Normal people stay home. To go in there might be exposing yourself to the worst COVIDiots in the nation, though I think Fla an S.D. have us beat. For now.

(100,101 posts)They are the problem. They're not "protecting our kids", they're putting them in harm's way. And they're doing it all for the likes.

(15,223 posts)I am grateful that I have no school age children or grandchildren who have to navigate this. But if I did, there is no way in hell I would send them to school right now. I could not bear the thought of being responsible for them getting sick and possibly dying.

(32,748 posts)Some of these school board meetings are being disrupted by people who don't even live in the district. They come in as paid actors putting on a show, trying to stir up trouble. THIS is how the billionaire one-per-centers spend their money when they don't have to pay a fair share of taxes.
