(35,454 posts)She's an archeologist who started the rescue in 2018. I'm glad for the ex-Marine. Gppgle says the message on FB is 10 hours old.
And some of the dogs were left behind by American families.

Not sure if people are aware of the Aghan culture/relationship to dogs:

Dogs are considered unclean in Afghanistan and are not meant to be let into areas where people pray (i.e. homes). Therefore, people rarely bring them inside their houses and it's not common to have them as pets. Some Afghans may be uncomfortable around them or afraid of them.

(31,969 posts)I love love love animals - but if we see cats being 'rescued' in country whereas dogs have to go - it makes sense.
If we can find a loving home for a kitty in Afghanistan, more room for the American and Allied owned dogs.
