Ive been approached about supporting efforts to fire Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes
The reality is that these folks are in safe Republican districts, and theyll be re-elected because THEIR constitutents take actually like their behavior.
We have to focus not on the rogues gallery candidates, but on the vulnerable first termers in competitive seats in order to hold on to the House.

(94,815 posts)Governor Roy Cooper, AG Josh Stein (both of whom I know), Cpngresswoman Deborah Ross, adovcates for winning back seats in the State Legislature....
None of the North Carolina Party leaders are suggesting I burn cash on Cawthorn.

(22,840 posts)There is little truly left of some people after that's gone, at least anything that's useful.
North Carolinians are rarely limited by the inability to do more than one thing at the time.
Name dropping doesn't define personal worth, equate respect or prove the existence of value. Anyone can claim familiarity after five minutes of sharing a room. I know Henry Kissinger. I'm no different than if I had never met him.
It doesn't provide any additional value or level of importance to anyone to know someone. But if bragging rights is all a person has to rely on to define their importance in the world, then they are bound to depend on it for self worth.
It's easy to just throw money at something. It's much more difficult and more useful, to devise plans of action, execute those plans and produce the desired result with regularity and devoted persistence. If money was the end all be all answer then votes and voters would be obsolete.

(94,815 posts)Im claiming familiarity with them to reflect awareness of political trends.
We need to win the Senate seat. We need to hold the House. We need to increase our seats in the State legislature. Unless you have unlimited funds, your financial support of a hopeless but feel good campaign against Cawthorn is reducing your ability to support candidates with a realistic chance of winning.
Ive made this point before: through this year and next Ill be an irritant pointing out political reality whenever fantasy gets proposed.

...because she is...

(22,840 posts)It's not emotional and it isn't strictly for fundraising.
Are you registered as an independent in NC?
DIDN'T THINK SO.
So, this doesn't apply to YOU.
Unlike, in one's imagination, when the world revolves it actually takes its own path.
BTW, you might want to proofread or at the least, spell check next time.
Example: Stitute
Urban Dictionary:
A Chick, Sorority girl, or any person who is overly facinated with the color pink, sparklies, and glitter

(26,775 posts)That's (pre redistricting) a pretty very red district. Even as unattractive as he (including among many Republicans), he still won by double digits.
I'm just fine with him being the face of the Republican party. I'm certainly not going to donate money to a group that likely knows they aren't getting rid of him.
If NC republicans are smart, they'll draw him out of a seat.

(26,775 posts)Replacing him with another Republican wouldn't change the outcome of any legislative votes. We would just lose his nuttiness that we can hang around their necks.
If we're lucky, some skeleton in his closet will blow up close enough to a general election that some Democrat will be able to unseat him. But there's no way to take that seat back against a generic Republican.

(26,775 posts)I'm quite familiar with him.
I would much rather that republicans be stuck with him in that seat than a less objectionable republican. He hurts lots of them who might actually be beatable.
littlemissmartypants
(22,840 posts)Since you claim to have knowledge of them all, no need to list them here. I'm surprised that not ALL republicans are considered objectionable to you.
Getting a weaker candidate to win against him, by using the primary, is the point.
FBaggins
(26,775 posts)That's strange... it was you who was advocating for another republican to primary him. Are they all objectionable to you?

Ridiculously backward thinking. It's because of the character failings that he is a potentially weak candidate. All a primary opponent knocking him off would do would be to replace him with a candidate without his failings. Republicans don't lose R+9 districts to Democrats unless they fall down on their own. Why get rid of the guy most likely to do so? Particularly when he makes every other Republican (including the ones in D+1 districts) look bad.
He's like their own version of "defund the police". They either take a stand against him or they're saddled with him as an election issue.
