....before the deadline", and saying that wasn't true.
WHAT'S THE POINT? What is being proven by this divisive and destructive BS?

(4,441 posts)The State Dept started telling Americans to LEAVE Afghanistan starting back in May 15
https://af.usembassy.gov/security-alert-may-15-2021/
"The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that on April 27, 2021, the Department of State ordered the departure from U.S. Embassy Kabul of U.S. government employees whose functions can be performed elsewhere due to increasing violence and threat reports in Kabul. The Travel Advisory for Afghanistan remains Level 4-Do Not Travel due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, armed conflict, and COVID-19. Commercial flight options from Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) remain available and the U.S. Embassy strongly suggests that U.S. citizens make plans to leave Afghanistan as soon as possible. Given the security conditions and reduced staffing, the Embassys ability to assist U.S. citizens in Afghanistan is extremely limited."
That was months ago and subsequent alerts were even more strongly worded about LEAVE NOW - GET OUT NOW!
It would seem most of these people, for whatever reason, refused to leave.
They've been talking to these people repeatedly for weeks and weeks, and either they were indecisive or didn't want to leave. They want to have their cake and eat it too.
But if things get more restrictive and then they decide that now they want out, it's gonna be a lot more difficult to get them out.

(12,257 posts)and that "want" to come home, an agreement has been made for their safe passage, hopefully. Also it should be mentioned that, and I can only point to the USA, that for months the USA have notified their citizen about the "war" ending and that they could make arrangements to leave as early as possible.
I have not watched CNN for quite some time because I knew this shit of constant bashing Pres. Biden would happen when he finally gave the ok to go forward with leaving, and what a mess it was going to be. And yet, over 120,000 evacuation occurred with the help of many countries around the world. Kudos.
And to the families of the 13 service men and women, and over 160 Afghans who lost their lives, my heart is heavy, and I can't imagine what you are going through, but as a country we are with you.

Something big behind the scenes happened when they revamped their lineup a month or so ago.

(26,732 posts)... are the ones telling us that we didn't get everyone out.
There are others who are wildly speculating about much higher numbers of "stranded" - but CNN doesn't need "proof" that "these so called people" exist when it's the administration telling us that they exist.

(26,732 posts)Just like the President never should have said things about the Afghan military last month that look bad now.
But my time machine is busted. No way to fix it now.

(18,633 posts)And was it their choice to stay behind? If they chose to stay, then that is on them.
The POINT however is if there were people who were trying to leave and we left them behind, AFTER our President promised to get every American out who wanted out, then that is seriously fucked up.

(718 posts)Joe needs to INFORM the Taliban leadership that we will be making arrangements to airlift those 100-200 Americans out of Afghanistan asap. It should be made just as clear that if any resistance is offered to our efforts,Hell will rain down on that country in swift fashion.
Then, the Biden administration needs to do the only thing his predecessor was good at - move on.
