Gene has always been something of an asshole, which he admits fully, but he’s been spot on when it comes to vaccinations and pandemic protocols.

He is fully vaccinated as is their entire crew. My guess is that they came across someone or someones in their travels who was highly contagious. If you're going to go to a lot of different places that is the risk you take right now. Paul said he got pretty sick. Neither of them are young any more.
