FB:from Michele, mark volkle's sister. Why am I using his account? Because mark is dead.

" So hi there, this is Michele, mark volkle’s sister. Why am I using his account? Because mark is dead. He died because he had the same view about vaccines and Covid as a lot of what I am reading when I check his Facebook. He refused to get vaccinated, because he believed he wasn’t going to die from a “hoax”. Obviously, he didn’t understand science or probability. I watched him gasp his final breath through a window of his icu room."

If they vehemently opposed vaccines, and believed the bullshit being spread about vaccines, the odds are - they're republi-CON. And all I can say, after "we warned and warned and warned and warned and warned and warned, and wore masks and kept our distance and tried to model good, responsible, socially considerate, and COVID-smart behavior, that I'm past caring.

We warned and warned and warned and warned. Warnings came from EVERYWHERE, not just from us dreaded Democrats, but also from credible, reputable scientific and medical experts whose warnings were summarily rejected and ignored by these Pox-holes. So okay then. Have it your way. Get sick and die. One less republi-CON voter = you'll be doing the rest of us a favor. Especially those who legitimately need those limited numbers of hospital beds that YOUR SELFISHNESS AND THOUGHTLESSNESS crowded them out of.

My sympathy quotient is pretty much gone.

I am angry at them for spreading the disease to vulnerable people and for overwhelming hospitals at the expense of others who need hospital care, not to mention what they do to health care practitioners. I get angry at their stubborn refusal to listen to reason.

I am even angrier at the political "leaders" and celebrities who spread disinformation and usually know better.

But I also feel sadness over the fear and ignorance that cause these people to follow foolish advice that ends up killing them and doing so much harm to the people around them.

He died two weeks later. He was terrified of dying, and I so wanted tell him, "You chose poorly" (from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), but he was my friend, so I told him "Get well" and said I'd pray for him. Then I got off the phone and cried.

The only way this pandemic is going to end is when the only people who are alive are those who got the vaccine.

people that I know are not vaccinated. I live in a senior complex of a couple of multistory apartment buildings. A few weeks ago I encountered a woman from my building at a convenience store parking lot. She acted patronizing toward me when she saw my mask and said she refuses to get invloved in all the hype and controversy about covid, so she just ignores it. She was proud to say that she hadn't been vaccinated, either.

She could have got the shots easily. In the spring, Rite Aid pharmacists came to a building in our complex to give out shots. She lives one floor above me. Now I am concerned that she (and anyone else not vaccinated) could bring the virus into common areas of the building, e.g. the elevator and hallways. I told her that the delta variant is present in our town and spreading quickly. I said that she could still get shots, but don't know if she did.

After 18 months of trimming my own hair, I went to my hairdresser after getting my shots. When she was done, she mentioned casually that she had not been vaccinated. I hadn't thought to ask in advance since I thought everyone would be happy to get the shots. Fortunately, we both wore masks the whole time (required by law at that time), but ever since then, I am back to trimming my own hair again.

I never leave my apartment without a mask and am looking forward to the booster. It's hard to stay safe when people around me refuse to.

None of these are the toddlers I could still do something about, to correct bad or potentially bad behavior and steer it in another way. Toddlers might comply. Your chances are better. I've had two of my own, plus roomfulls of pre-schoolers with whom I volunteered, and birthday parties and other kiddie stuff I staged or helped with. You can influence and behavior-correct toddlers.

With fully-grown and functionally independent adults, on the other hand, I don't know what-the-hell to do. With them, the damage was done long ago and NOT corrected when it could still have been. Too late now. And an adult can do ever so much more damage than a two-year-old. Even the prison system doesn't always work.

And all we've had, seems to me, is validation and reinforcement of bad behavior. This indictment leads directly back to donald trump and all the bad that he's embodied, won with, succeeded by doing, and has never really had to pay in any way that might have gotten through to him. With too many of our misguided and utterly fucked-up fellow Americans, HE'S become the new role model.

MAN am I a downer today! I just looked back at another long blab I just wrote, and realized I am now far more ill-at-ease about life, America, and the future (of us and of this planet) than I've ever been before. Hopefully I'll snap out of it before too long. After all, my Indivisible group (a bunch of terrific new friends) is holding a rally tomorrow and I have to go get some balloons for it.

The fatality rates in red states, states with Republican governors, and low vaccination rates all easily outstrip the rates in blue regions of the country or those with high vaccination rates. All of this has been tracked and appears more than likely to be directly linked to party affiliation.

I know several vaccinated adults in my small town who have come down with COVID (Delta?) the last couple of months. Some have underlying health conditions.

One family of five. Kindergartner got it first week of school, brought it home. Several days later older brother got it. Several days after that vaccinated mom got it. Dad plus three year old daughter moved to quarantine and try to keep from getting sick. Daughter got it anyway, so vaccinated dad brought her home to family so he could care for everyone. Now he has it. We are talking maybe four weeks of vaccinated adults being unable to work. Not to mention the terror for their children.

68. Facebook still hasn't done anything to deplatform the "Disinformation Dozen".
Tue Sep 7, 2021, 11:29 AM
Sep 2021

The thing is that every single COVID related death that's happening now is because of people choosing to believe the bullshit they see on social media instead of actual science. Thanks to Facebook they're taking an unproven horse deworming medication. They'll pay $450 to a fucking chiropractor to get a religious exemption for mask mandates. They'll do anything but take the actual vaccine.

Every single death that has happened since May and will happen through the end of the year could have been prevented. But it's because of 10 years of largely unchecked anti-vaccine propaganda that got us here.

Most of what is on Facebook about vaccines comes from 12 people. And Facebook made BILLIONS (yes, billions) off of this nonsense. Someone needs to be held accountable and I believe that is them. We're talking a sizeable percentage of the population is refusing to get vaccinated because of this, and they'll most likely die. That's over a hundred thousand, if not a potential million. That's seriously genocide level.

Not only that, Facebook is radicalizing the crazies - the people who are taking over school board and city council meetings demanding that mask and vaccine mandates be overturned. This is seriously reckless, and it's all because of social media. The fact that Facebook hasn't done anything to deplatform the "Disinformation Dozen" and allows them to continue to wreck havoc is a grave disservice to society.

So because of this, I stand by my statement. If Facebook would get rid of the anti-vaccine propaganda they might do some good but right now it's too little too late.
