What Elder's loss tells us about white privilege

Lies, misogyny, racism, homophobia, xenophobia are things you get away with -- only if you are a white candidate. The actual racists can't muster enough courage to vote for a black person, even when partisanship is the incentive. Hate is bigger than even thug politics. The white racists stayed home.

To win future midterms, we should do what the republicans do -- hire a d-list actor who is black or trans as a Republican to dampen turnout from the actual racists, homophobes.

We need to limit their choices to voting for a black or trans republican, or continue to hate.

1. Not true. Elder got slightly less votes than Trumpy did in California.

If Elder had shut up about the draconian GOP wish list items like getting rid of the minimum wage, they might have done better. The GOP continues to shoot themselves in the foot in CA.

Virginia is the next state up. Youngkin is a Trumpkin who knows he must keep his mouth shut. We'll see how well that works in a couple of months.

The point is to dampen GQP turnout. A way to do that is to give GQP a choice we know they can't make: vote for a BLACK/GAY candidate who is as crazy as Trump.

sounds like you'll appreciate an L.A. Times headline that had me chuckling:

We ignore the power of racism at our peril. Why not use it to deny GQP a large turnout. Why not sabotage Trumpism's GOTV allure to their rabid base. We can do this by giving them a binary choice: "Black/trans Trump" or an actual decent human being.

I think it's a mistake to only play defense. The GOP is winning by capturing emotions of hate-filled people. Why not use that against them?

Also, taking the high road is why Trumpism is on the rise. We're at war with fascism. We need to do everything we can to make sure it never takes hold in America.
