Two Missouri moms pulled their guns on one another during a road rage argument outside an elementary school. After one woman took her gun out, the other woman said, I got one for you, too. HAZELWOOD, Mo. Two moms pulled out their guns during an argument outside of a Hazelwood elementary school during drop-off Tuesday morning.
Nobody was hurt during the incident in the parking lot at McNair Elementary School, according to a press release from the school district.
The parents involved have been identified and the district is taking "swift action."
Hazelwood police said it started when one of the parents cut off another in the drop-off lanes.
One of the moms walked to the car of the other woman to apologize, saying it was an accident, according to Hazelwood Police Capt. James Hudanick. The argument became heated and the woman inside the car pulled out a gun.
"Mom outside the vehicle says, 'I got one for you, too,' and goes to retrieve her firearm," Hudanick told 5 On Your Side.

(53,782 posts)brandishing firearms are white, as no arrest were made. I'll amend this post if I'm wrong but I don't think I'll have to.

(14,492 posts)One or both women should be banned from that school's property, IMO.
Isn't it amazing how we got along just fine when I was a kid in school and no parents picked up their kids in private vehicles. We either walked, rode a bike or rode the school bus. Possible exceptions were when a kid was sick or kids with disabilities.
We're drowning in our own wasteful hubris and exceptionalism.

(29,674 posts)For every student to ride.
As to walking/bike riding: fine when we still had neighborhood schools but many no longer have that option. My daughter was centrally located but we have kindergarteners who would need to walk a few miles, often while crossing busy intersections. These intersections have become more dangerous at least in my city where so many aren't paying attention while on their smartphone.
My daughter qualified one year for the bus. It took three and a half hours to get home when her school was a mile and a half away. She stopped riding after the first week and I worked out a schedule with another single mom friend. I worked very early so I dropped her off at the friend's house. She fed them and dropped them off at school. I got off just in time to pick them up.
The bus and walking situation is nothing like it was when I was young.

(6,625 posts)How about arrested? Brandishing is an offense, even in Missouri. Basically, it involves presenting a gun in a "threatening or angry manner" when not actively engaged in self-defense. It sounds like an appropriate charge here.

(14,492 posts)and from a moral standpoint, showing a weapon of any type says "I'm not adult enough to address this issue by rational, common-sense means".
I'm old enough to remember when in the country towns where I was raised, absolutely no one carried a pistol except for the town cop and it never entered our minds to want one.

(30,813 posts)When my kids were in high school I used to tell them to meet me up the road about 1/4 mile so I could avoid the fray. Boy did they hate that. You would've thought I told them to walk the 10 miles to home!

(53,959 posts)Regionalism is a bigotry very much embraced by the left. We hear screeching when it is about "latte liberals" of the NE or the Pacific NW, but they are so willing to "sell off" the South, even though some of the most vile groups are outside of the "deep South". Frankly, I think it is latent racial racism.

The Moms need to have the full experience with the justice system and a break from being anywhere near schools, parks etc where lots of kids and parents gather.
