30. General Data Protection Regulation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation

The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy in the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). It also addresses the transfer of personal data outside the EU and EEA areas. The GDPR's primary aim is to enhance individuals' control and rights over their personal data and to simplify the regulatory environment for international business. Superseding the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC, the regulation contains provisions and requirements related to the processing of personal data of individuals (formally called data subjects in the GDPR) who are located in the EEA, and applies to any enterprise—regardless of its location and the data subjects' citizenship or residence—that is processing the personal information of individuals inside the EEA.

The GDPR was adopted on 14 April 2016 and became enforceable beginning 25 May 2018. As the GDPR is a regulation, not a directive, it is directly binding and applicable, but does provide flexibility for certain aspects of the regulation to be adjusted by individual member states.

The regulation became a model for many national laws outside the EU, including United Kingdom, Turkey, Mauritius, Chile, Japan, Brazil, South Korea, Argentina and Kenya. The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), adopted on 28 June 2018, has many similarities with the GDPR.

We have 5 of the 65 deadliest cities in the country here in TN. More guns does not make us more safe. @GovBillLee @MemphisHoller

I got the push notice and turned on CNN. Tapper mentioned it and then there were commercials that went on forever.

It’s a sick, sad commentary that these events seem to get only a passing mention anymore, they’re so common.

Now we’re getting the latest on Gabby Petito. Of course.

"She told me to sit in front row next time".

@JakeSherman
Walked w Pelosi after her presser. @lindsemcpherson said it’s hard for us to understand “framework” Dems have agreed to without her describing it further.

“That’s your problem not mine,” Pelosi said.

I asked about Mon’s infra vote

“The press conference is over.”

LOL at the replies...

Try listening to actually understand the next time and not just focusing on the next zinger question you think you’re going to get her with because you will never win.

I won't leave a 2-3 block area of the hotel/downtown district when I'm there at night.

(It's the BioTech industry in the city that brings me there.)

EDIT: this shooting was a few miles outside Memphis... but my observation of Memphis still stands.

It's struck my own home town.

the Borderline shooting was in my home town, before it was a Borderline it was a Charlie Brown's restaurant. Since the 1980's it's a place where I'd go with parents, take first dates... never went there when it was Borderline though.

I just don't get the violence and anger people have in their hearts.

But I guess the data pretty much backs up my "feelings".

I mean if you want to know... stuff like when locals take me out on the town when I visit... stuff like that.
