is "...being a mean girl middle-schooer. (sp)" or "Too cute by half." ?
... on the other hand I give you the Sinema Curtsy.

(2,851 posts)That's what is so frustrating to her colleagues. No one can negotiate or even work with another person when they tell you that they won't cooperate or come to some mutual accommodation if they won't tell you why and what it is they want. She's simply a refusenik.

(30,613 posts)Put earmarks in the bill, that would benefit the corporate donors, and benefit the public.
For example, a subsidy for a coal company to build wind farms on the mountaintops that it has flattened with mining.

There's probably a legal explanation, but now that I really don't like her I'm interested.
The 2018 figure is supported by this Roll Call article. Sinema's net worth as recently as 2018 was actually a negative figure because of her student loan debt.
https://www.rollcall.com/2018/11/02/arizonas-next-senator-wont-be-wealthy-whomever-voters-choose/
As for the most recent filing, she'd reportedly written books some time ago. I found one on Amazon, released in 2009, long before her 2018 filing. Aside from that, she started as a social worker and for most of her adult life her work, including returning to school to get her JD, should have pretty much precluded real wealth accumulation. Including her years in elective office.

(51,267 posts)She claims her personal hero is John McCain but she is no John McCain. She's easily bought by wealthy donors.

(2,403 posts)The idea that the country can be held hostage by someone from another state is fucked up.
I dont have a better system at my fingertips but I am tired of not having any recourse with a rogue senator from another state fucking up national politics. The only thing I can do is fundraise and make phone calls for challengers. And I do engage in that but I am tired of watching this shit play out time and time again. I do believe good governance comes from healthy debate and that government shouldnt move at lightning speed but these people are not acting in good faith on the behalf of the people. They often times are not even acting on the behalf of their own constituents. The propaganda in this country all but ensures that people are going to vote for whoever hare the preferred party designation in front of their name. That coupled with citizens united has all but fucked our politics but ESPECIALLY the senate.
Damn I am just so fed up.

(58,785 posts)Instead, I read about her history, which raised too many questions and doubts for comfort. A candidate for U.S. senate, also! God! I didn't think they'd play out in this degree of blatant betrayal, though.

(5,633 posts)In my mind, she's proven she wants to vote no, just hasn't made up her mind yet. Just giving her added incentive to solidify her opposition at that point.

(1,983 posts)It's satisfying in the short term, but it's not helpful in actually getting things done. I really like Rep. Porter, but I have to ask if she thinks talking like this is going to help her cause.
