If the reconciliation ends up at $0, we're screwed in 2022.
Even if we only get $1.5T it will be a boost, and we could really take another cut next year. One important thing is to keep the Child Tax Credit payments going after Jan1. That is money in people's pockets.
If we get anything passed it will help in 2022, no matter what the pundits might be saying.

(46,045 posts)I hear they offered Manchin 2.1T yesterday. I'm pretty sure his 1.5 was an opening offer. Plus, the progressives in the House said they'll pass the other bill if they have reassurance that this bill will pass. IMHO, this is real progress. The only thing that still worries me is Sinema.
The other thing...we might have to use reconciliation to get the debt limit raised, so we'd have to wait until next year to get the 1.5/2.1. Bummer.

(11,023 posts)Not the bipartisan bill. That's already cooked in the Senate.
I'm just not sure if they need a clean reconciliation bill for the debt ceiling, or if it can be included in BBB.
