(17,984 posts)Some fools are brainless at 50. Newt is one of them thought he could get away with a book deal when that is why his predecessor was dumped out of Congress.
I remember posting that DUers could take it to the bank that she would prevail

(47,427 posts)That was a nice surprise. I'll bet most republicans know that as well. Too bad some of the newer Democrats in congress didn't realize that at first.

(47,427 posts)They have nothing to lose by telling the truth. I still can't believe how many republican politicians are willing to sell their soul for political office - it is just a job and most of them have plenty of other options, they won't starve if they lose an election.

(18,486 posts)He was Speaker in a time of considerably more cooperation and comity, working with President's who worked with him, regardless of party. Pelosi has a much more treacherous landscape AND she's having to handle it with the additional burden that being a woman brings.
With the extra points Pelosi gets for the difficulty of her job, she far outscores any of her predecessors.

She has excelled during the toughest time for democracy in Americas history, not a time of rampant prosperity or peace. Simply the best.

(10,124 posts)I left the 'woman' part out on purpose because it should have nothing to do with it.
Maybe I'm overlooking someone but her name comes to mind when I ask myself who the greatest speaker of the house was during my lifetime.

(81,240 posts)You CANNOT argue this. Its a flat statement of fact. Shes a GIANT, newt. ESPECIALLY compared to YOU, Mr. Spectacular Flame-out. Youre something she wipes off her shoes on the floor mat outside her front door before going inside, asshole.
No weasel-worded left-handed compliment out of you, Newt. Youre not worth even being a roll of toilet paper in her executive bathroom.
