Missouri is 48% fully vaccinated; Spain above 80%. Which is why Spaniards are living in safety, and Missourians are dying unnecessarily and preventably

(1,040 posts)Spain is approximately 58% Roman Catholic; Missouri is approximately 77% Christian-based faith. The bully pulpit is alive and well (especially in rural MO). Pastors are preaching that receiving the vaccine is akin to getting "the mark of the beast." People I've spoken with will come right out and say that getting the vaccine would be a "lapse of faith" and that they are "relying on the Good Lord to cover them" and protect them from COVID-19. A high school classmate, who is the wife of a preacher near Springfield, was very proud and considered it an "answer to prayer" when a letter they wrote for a friend "saved" them from having to get the vaccine or lose their job. So churches are actively assisting their parishioners in avoiding the vaccine on religious grounds to the point of writing letters and/or speaking with their employers.
That may be happening in Spain, but I kinda doubt it.
what are the rest of Spaniards? "Non-religious"? I thought it was a 99.99% RCC country.
