About Mitch McConnell's ill-advised effort to stop a vote on raising the debt limit.
I think he may have been acting at the request of Donald Trump.
With the subpoenas coming up and the trail getting hotter, Trump needed something big to distract and replace what was happening with the Select Committee and the subpoenas served on his closest allies.
What better way than to threaten to shut down the entire government. Don't pay the debt. Force the country into bankruptcy to save Donald Trump.
Eventually, it was more than Mitch McConnell and a few semi-sane Republicans could endure. They voted to extend the debt limit for a few weeks.
It just seems like something Trump would do.

(15,067 posts)It's my understanding that McConnell DETESTS him and would likely not take his calls.
Slick Mitch wants TFG to go away already so he can get back to his normal nefarious duties.

(4,845 posts)Trump did in his term. They love to create "controversies" that would make the market drop just to revert it back a few days later. They make money when the stock market moves up and down.
Another thing is, it is good for him politically to keep up with their false image of the economically smart party with the libertarian types.
