I think Joe Biden may have found a way to resolve this crisis.

TFDEX-P

Donald Trump wasted little time in claiming executive privilege to keep his sucky sycophants from testifying before the Select Committee.

Joe Biden wasted even less time in telling him that, due to the circumstances of our Capitol being attacked, he could not offer "executive privilege" to Mr Trump.

This must have come as a surprise to those cult supporters that thought Joe Biden was working for Donald Trump? Trump was the "real" President, they were told.

So Trump wants to take it to the Courts. He has been litigating in the courts for fifty years. He is very comfortable there.

This is how Joe Biden resolves the crisis. Encourage TFDEX-P to take it all the way to the Supreme Court. Get it out of the hands of a divided Congress.

Let the Supreme Court decide who has the authority to offer "executive privilege"? The present person in the Oval Office or "the former disgraced ex-president"?

The drama of this decision would capture the cult-mind and force them to take notice. Who won the last election? That is, in effect, what the Court would be ruling if they ruled on the "executive privilege". The Court would simply say who had the authority, the present occupant or the former occupant?

I would agree this would be a good decision if Biden can force it to the Supreme Court, on the "executive privilege" question. It would ease the tensions and if the Court ruled correctly, it could quell the revolutionary fervor of many on the right.

This would take much of the politics out of the present debate. But, when the Supreme Court makes a decision, it is a decision we must all accept, if we are to be true to our Constitution. The Supreme Court is the final word.

So long as the investigation continues and the debate is inflamed in the Congress, the nation will continue to be divided and at risk. The Court should decide this question about "executive privilege" as soon as possible, in my opinion.

Yes, but?

What about the right-wingers on the Court? They out-number the liberals 6 to 3. Wouldn't it be a huge gamble to ask the Court to decide the issue? Perhaps so, but it would be better than the direction we are headed. This issue cannot be resolved by the Executive or Legislative Branches. The Judiciary must resolve this crisis through the Courts.

This is the perfect issue to begin to calm the waters.

Can you think of another solution? There needs to be as much consensus as possible or it will not work.

with a partisan court?

Be careful what you wish for. There is no doubt this is going to the SC and the question remains, will the court do the right thing?

Look what it did with abortion, didn't it ignore consensus?

But it would be enough to change the narrative from "he won the election' to one where the Supreme Court has ruled. (I cannot imagine that even the present Supreme Court would rule favorably for Trump over the present President in the Oval Office, especially when the claim is for the purpose of covering up a crime and protecting possible guilty parties.) I think it would get the attention of most of the cult and could possibly temper their passions. It would also be a message to them that Donald Trump is still not the President.

Does he get to sue if his court date is on a Wednesday ?

You can't claim executive privilege if you're not the executive. Why does something like this even get a hearing?

regarding Trump's term in office. They also should encourage the national archives to do the same. Release it all before the courts have a chance to rule on it or it will get dragged out until the Republicans are back in power. We've had enough of this bullshit. It's time to let the sun shine in.
