Mr.Nance did not discuss about, nor mention the IRA. Despite critical mistakes that took the lives of many innocent people, the PIRA campaign was a response to the injustices exacted upon the native Irish population by the British. The Brit reign of terror has been ongoing for centuries. In the late 60’s civil rights protests by Nationalists were met by sectarian violence by loyalists(descendants of planted people from mainland Britain) with the support of the RUC( NI police force - nearly 100% loyalist-unionist).The Brit soldiers actions exacerbated the situation. Nationalists were up against a fascist system that prevented them from employment, fair housing and voting. It’s a complex situation that requires a lot of study, but it is summed up quite emotionally in a song, “Joe McDonnell”. A sample of lyrics addressed to the Brits - “... dared to call me a terrorist while you looked down your gun...you plundered nations, divided lands, terrorized their peoples...you brought this reign of terror to this land”. When your back is up against the wall you run out of options to fight back with. If you go home and find someone with guns has taken over your house and tells you it’s his now, not yours anymore, how many times are you going to nicely ask him to leave before you run out of patience and are forced to do whatever it takes to remove the usurper? The “Troubles” was not a religious dispute; it was pure divide and conquer economics policy by Britain, something we’re starting to see develop with the GOP.

when the full transcript is up I will post it here.

Also, regardless of the foundational causal factors, I will never be an IRA apologist.

The #GOP is less Taliban and more like the Irish political group Sinn Fein … they represent insurgents/terrorists politically. Soon enough arguments will go fm from aisles of Congress to real blood in the streets. #WeWereLuckyToday
