The economy? Joe Biden's Administration has created more jobs than any in history in their first nine months in office. But, they do not get any credit. Most of the jobs were lost during the height of the pandemic. And they get little credit for improving that situation either. The country seems to be reaching near herd immunity? This winter season will likely tell the tale.
So, if the Democrats cannot run on the economy or the improved condition with the Covid, what is left for them to run on?
The January 6th Insurrection? Or have all minds made up on what they think about what happened on January 6th? Is it a viable political issue? Or should it be?
What about the betrayal of Republicans toward our Constitution and our democracy? They have shown themselves to be very unpatriotic. They are working to tear down our institutions and our democracy, even as we speak. They have divided the nation unlike any time since the Civil War.
What issue would you choose to run on?

(43,579 posts)billion or so. That's less than one per cent of what was spent in 2020 overall on the federal budget. It also means, if we cannot pass the Build Back Better Act, that well over 90% if Biden's new spend between the two bills is gone, binned.
The bipartisan bill is also mostly long term projects that lack immediacy in terms of affecting the average person by the time the mid-terms roll around.
The bipartisan bill was gutted like a trout by Manchin, Sinema and the Rethugs.
Combine that with a failure to enact the voter protections bills and 2022 will be a bloodbath. We are already likely around 10 seats or so in the red in the House due to partisan redistricting-
We already said bye bye to almost 80% of Biden's proposed new spend and tax credits in the bi-partisan bill. $2.6 trillion was shredded down to $550 billion. The other $650 billion is simply renewals of pre-existing programmes (mostly transportation related) that have been on the books for years.
Also, because it was a so-called bipartisan bill, the Rethugs will claim far more credit than they should be able to for what did pass, despite the fact the majority of them voted against it.
The Infrastructure Plan: Whats In and Whats Out (it's brutal)
Biden's original plan:
What was left after they took a 2 trillion USD hatchet to it

(111,110 posts)Democrats cannot win on issues that appeal to the highest intelligence voters. They must appeal to those with the lowest IQ's. That is what works in American politics.

(575 posts)I'm mystified why this isn't part of the strategy. Appeal to all voters, no?

(58,785 posts)That goes for people of all levels of intelligence and knowledge.
I wouldn't choose one. Stick AND carrot. RW dictatorship, betrayal, the four horsemen of the climate apocalypse if we elect Republicans. All the good things Americans should be and have, that are our birthright, if we elect Democrats.

(36,533 posts)Too bad the dems would never run a national campaign with that. It would resonate with a lot of on-the-fence voters. Maybe motivate them to vote.

(31,204 posts)That's the way Republicans work
Maybe a combination of:
What Biden said about losing our edge to China.
The fat cats who are ripping us off(health insurance, pharmaceuticals, Wall Street, billionaires, etc)
Reining-in off shoring and outsourcing.
A really scary climate change scenario.

Turn the message into "we had a pathway to making things better, and we did some good, but these guys stood in the way, they cared more about winning elections than about you. When they win, they will serve their rich masters. "
