October 11 is UN International Day of the Girl Child, focusing on the challenges
girls worldwide face because of their gender. This includes access to education, nutrition, health care, opportunities at every level. It also addresses such issues as gender violence and child marriage. And recognizes the rising voices of young women around the world in areas such as climate change and other major issues.
