im done with masks

really why should i even bother anymore. Its obvious my government doesnt want to do anything to slow the virus. (im in texas) Im fully vaccinated.

why should i continue to wear a mask to protect the idiots who refuse to get vaccinated. let them catch covid. i dont care anymore. Im tired of the fight. let them all get sick and die. im tired of taking actions to try and protect irresponsible people. ive done my share. and im done... Fuck them all.

(no im not actually going to do this but the thought has crossed my mind. ive spent 18 months doing my part while the idiots refuse to do squat. and im tired of it)

My local hamlet in Central Maine seems to agree that we should still wear masks....most, not all, do.

I could GAF about all the unvaccinated assholes. I don't want to catch it from one of them.

If the situation were such that I had no chance of catching it due to being vaccinated, I wouldn't bother.

Fresno, to be exact, I am triple vaccinated, I wear because it is right and decent to do so. Although I see many without masks I am encouraged by how many mask in Devin Nunez district.

Our local area has a high tax rate and low(ish) infection rate. Most, but not all, local businesses have signs that say masks strongly encouraged. Most people are masked up.

We are, of course, not without our share of assholes.

I was in a local CVS store earlier today, and a man walked in and realized he had no mask. He asked for one, and as I was leaving, the clerk was making a PA announcement asking if anyone had a mask to give to him. Because I left, I don't know what the outcome was, but I hope it was that he got a mask.

We have a very high vaccination rate here, and people are still very good about masking. Makes me feel good. I did get the J&J shot, no booster yet, but I feel quite good about my relative safety. Again, I mask everywhere. Don't go out that often, although I understand that all I have to do is have an encounter with someone with covid who is actively shedding the virus and I've got it. But being vaccinated, I'm confident that at best I'll have an annoying break through case.

I truly, truly wish hospitals would start turning away the unvaccinated who show up with Covid. They can admit someone unvaccinated with something else, but to be admitted they get vaccinated. If they refuse the vaccine, go home. It seems to me to be quite simple.

but when I go into my rural tiny downtown in the middle of NM, the majority are not masked - but our small town mayor tests the hell out of the town people. Just call him up and he will run over with a test kit he will mail in. My county , Torrance, has about 15,000 people and most days report zero to five (a few times up to 15 ) cases a day. Yesterday there were no reported cases. Only 19 deaths since counting started. With about 20% having natural antibodies from having covid and 70% vaccinated - we are doing really good. At first I would get mad at the anti maskers but it took too much energy so now I’m friendly to all as it seems pretty safe out here. I always mask.

Masks don't bother me.

Try looking at it from the perspective of putting others at ease.

They are slighlty more effective at protecting others. But they offer the wearer protection equivalent to the J&J vaccine.

Wear it precisely because the idiots refuse to get vaccinated, and refuse to protect you.

I’m in North Florida, I was out earlier, went to a Dollar General store, the feed & seed store for fall garden seeds, then the dog park for an hour, only mask I saw was pulled down on the chin of the cashier at the Dollar General.

I’m vaccinated, that’s good enough for me because the vaccine protection is good. It’s not my problem if others chose to be unvaccinated and are at much greater risk for a severe case. Of course I wear a mask when required to like to walk into the dentist office recently.

We don’t wear them at work 99% of the time either, only work policy is to wear one if in a company vehicle with another employee (which I never am) or to wear one if in the main administration office building, which I have always avoided anyway.

If people feel like they need extra protection because they are high risk or live with someone that is then they absolutely should be wearing a N95 or better mask and social distance at all times.
