(5,524 posts)Deshaun Watson is only "eligible" because he has been unofficially banished from the field.
His team has told him to keep his ass away from the team while the legal process resolves itself. Meanwhile they are trying to trade him but no one wants to touch him AND they are asking a super high price for someone who may never play again.
The league doesn't want to touch it and won't issue any official position until they have to. If any team (his own or a trade partner) acted to put him on the field, it would force the league's hand. It is almost certain that they would suspend him for a very long time.
So this is not the same thing. But he knew that and went with the outrage angle anyway.

(5,524 posts)Clay Travis is certainly a right wing tool.
He always has been but in the past tried to hide behind sports. He was always doing that bro-culture, anti-PC schtick that was really just thinly disguised racism.
I am actually glad he took over for Rush so he would get out of the sports programming where all that subversive BS was hiding under the radar.
It is true that all Trump supporters should keep their damn mouth shut when it comes to any kind of wrong doing but sexual assault certainly seems like one they should avoid. But consistency was never their strong suit

Also, regardless of his fitness for the job, Jon Gruden remains 100% eligible to coach in the NFL, you stupid fucking jackass.
They could dig up the festering rotten corpse of Limbaugh, and listening to him decompose on-air would probably be more entertaining than listening to your feeble bullshit.

(32,079 posts)Isn't that the same number of women who have credibly accused Donald Trump of sexual assault? I wonder where Clay Travis' outrage is about that.

(11,730 posts)They are operating neither on logic, nor on good faith. To Trump supporters, and many conservatives/GOP members this is simply political football. Their job is to advance the ball.
We never bring up John Edwards, why is that? Oh yeah, because Edwards is a cheating asshole who tried to be holier than thou while carrying on a secret life. Not Okay.
Words AND actions matter.
No one, to my knowledge, is defending Watson. No one is saying that he should be allowed to play and make millions without any consequences.
They seem to make up these scenarios in their feeble little minds as if there is some massive Democratic push to sweep the allegations against Watson under the rug while going hard after Gruden. Sorry dude but he MeToo movement was almost entirely pushed by liberal women and allies. When allegations against anyone, whether President Biden, Cuomo, etc... are made, we want to make sure that they are investigated and not dismissed out of hand. This is not a political game, this is about what is needed to live in a civil society.
If this idiot Travis, wants to be consistent, then he needs to talk about the allegations and lawsuits against his boy Trump and how Trump is able to run for office while under allegations by 27 women of sexual assault.
