Just by taking over Congress and the White House, the Democrats have somewhat split into a moderate and progressive caucus. If there were no GOP, that would be the two competing parties.
The Republicans, on the other hand, want to use power to enforce a one-man, one view party. No factions or dissent allowed.
This is mainly because they know that they are already a minority, and demographics are reducing their numbers every year.

trump tell's republican party not to vote in 22' & I for 1 totally agree ! republican party is on the verge of becoming "The grand obsoleted party " ! there are hell of a lot more democratic people than the republican people ! proven fact ! we just got to put there ass in the deleted section ! really not that hard !
