Given our commitment to racial justice, self-governance, and indigenous sovereignty, we opposed Zionism and any state that enforces its ideology, Sunrise DC wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. The organization said it had declined a speaking role at the rally, scheduled for Saturday, and organized by the Declaration for American Democracy, a coalition of more than 200 liberal groups. Sunrise DC also asked rally organizers to remove JCPA, NCJW and the RAC from the coalition.
Those three groups are stalwarts of the Jewish establishments liberal wing, advocating for progressive political positions on on abortion, housing and other domestic issues while voicing varying degrees of support for Israel. While all three organizations support the principle of a Jewish state in Israel the basic premise of Zionism they are all focused primarily on U.S. politics and JCPA is the only organization that lists American support for Israel as one of its top priorities.
National Council of Jewish Women works for the safety and wellbeing of Americans, Israelis, and Palestinians, Sheila Katz, the groups CEO, said in a statement. Our commitment to working across lines of difference includes our willingness to engage in dialogue with groups that take issue with our policies.

(67,782 posts)...and a couple of other groups. Each has exhibited their own manner of anti-Semitism.
They're the group that was used to organize a sit-in outside Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office in late November 2018, and also the group that accosted Senator Dianne Feinstein outside her office several months later. It was a video-op for them - they showed up prepared to record a video of the entire encounter, and then doctored a more than 5-minute video showing only the "gotcha" questions and answers by Senator Feinstein. The chopped up video was subsequently put out on Twitter.

3. It was Americans who were Jewish who stood shoulder to shoulder with black Americans in the South on this issue 50-60 years ago.
Let's talk about Samuel Friedman, who was able to keep Joseph Spell out of Jail for the false rape accusation of Eleanor Strubing.
Let's talk about Bernard Cohen - who represented the Lovings.
Let's talk about Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel.
Let's talk about my convert to being a Methodist to marry a pretty girl bringing his wife and daughter to the March on Washington (my mom's dad).
Let's talk about my Great Grandmother (above man's mother) who went out of her way to find pretty dolls that looked like her (black) great grand daughter. A silly thing - but something she had a critical eye for in the late 70's/early 80's.
The sunrise movement can't be trusted by black Americans who are filled with anxiety that our aunts, uncles, cousins, friends will be disenfranchised in certain States, without a solid measurable Voting Rights law on the book.

(32,010 posts)Which high school student Sunriser would put their life on the line for Voting Rights today?
That would be too hard.

Not unlike what some leaders in the womans March did by excluding Jews from participation

(32,010 posts)I want them on record -
Are the voting rights of minorities - in particular black Americans more important than the Sunrise Movement's dictates? And will any of them be sitting out?
Waiting.

(15,325 posts)This antisemitism displayed by Sunrise goes straight to the organizers at the very top.
Sunrise Movement should be officially declared a Hate Group.
