He is not running for another term, officially for family reasons. Trump is out for him, and he was going to be primaried by a Jim Jordan clone.

Here are quotes from Gonzalez in connection with 1/6 and impeachment:

"The President of the United States helped organize and incite a mob that attacked the United States Congress in an attempt to prevent us from completing our solemn duties as prescribed by the Constitution," Gonzalez wrote in early 2021, discussing his vote to convict. "In doing so, five people have died - including a Capitol Police Officer - many more have been injured, and our democracy has been shaken."

"During the attack itself, the President abandoned his post while many members asked for help, thus further endangering all present. These are fundamental threats not just to people's lives but to the very foundation of our Republic," Gonzalez added. "When I consider the full scope of events leading up to January 6th including the President's lack of response as the United States Capitol was under attack, I am compelled to support impeachment."

She testified behind closed doors, I think. She is from SW Washington. She took a longtime D seat (Baird). Do not be fooled, she is in a marginal R seat and is just playing the game. She was a teabagger when she took her seat, she still is, but she needs Dem votes to win.

She is being primaried, of course, for her vote to impeach the criminal. As marginally R as her seat is, the R's there are the worst of the worst. Poor Boys, 3 inchers, pasty prayer, and Oath Breakers thrive there. Joey Gibson is from her district.

She would lose the primary for sure, but WA has a different system that may allow her to survive. If she is dropped, prime pickup opportunity for Dems (depending on redistricting).

They do that, once in a while. Enough to fool the people around here into thinking he’s “independent” and “moderate”.

I wish Patrick Murphy would go ahead and run for something - either that PA-1 seat (since he originally had it as PA-8 back in 2006 - 2008) or maybe even try state AG again, since Shapiro is running for governor.

Everyone of them voted “No” to have a debate….not a vote, just a debate on the voting rights act.

Rep. John Katko: Trump makes it difficult to stay in Republican Party
Updated: Sep. 16, 2021, 1:54 p.m. | Published: Sep. 16, 2021, 11:21 a.m.

U.S. Rep. John Katko says Donald Trump should no longer be considered the leader of the Republican Party and vowed not to back down to Trump’s political threats against him.

Katko, R-Camillus, made his comments Wednesday when asked how he stays in a Republican Party controlled by Trump and his political allies.
