THAT is what needs to be front and center for 2022 and 2024.
Remind people how unfriendly trumpism is. How hostile and self-centered so many people who support him are. Show voters a world veering back towards respectful behavior vs "F*** Your Feelings". Because the middle is madder at the bickering and the sniping more than anything else.
"Mean tweets"? Yes, Mr. Mean Tweets. We do NOT want that back in power.
The Dems will NEVER beat the GQP at their own game.

(10 posts)Chris Hayes was discussing this "outdoing each other" on mean, delinquent, and nasty behavior by the GQP.
These people depress me. You have the GQP leaders who are educated appealing to a base that is generally uneducated - victims of the GQP-funded education system.
Their mantra is that to be an ass is something to be proud of - to be cruel to your own countrymen/women is something to wear like a badge.
As this continues it justifies for them an indifference to suffering. That includes violent acts against other Americans. This is a very dangerous situation for anyone who isn't their sphere. We never want them back in power.

The Democrats MUST be fighting FOR civilization, and be known for it.

(495 posts)We have to make this election about a defense of civility, and a reminder of how savagely trumpism attacks civility and cooperation.
Trumpism is flat out RUDE! THIS is the winning message for the middle 40%.

His last rant was about the "both sides" of this and how we must do everything we can to avoid a Kosovo style civil war which appears to be a good possibility to him.
What do we do? Shut up? They are impossible to reason with, imo.
And how does anyone stay in "the middle" on all of this? Sure folks are being hurt but "let's not bicker?"

As for how does anyone stay in "the middle" on all of this? Sure folks are being hurt but "let's not bicker?"
Will the fragile, the vulnerable, be hurt less if TFG regains power because the left demands people to pay with personal guilt and ended up driving people away?
"Hey! We lost AGAIN! But we had purity in our principles!"
Math. Everyone hates it. But math is a motherpuppy, and math ALWAYS wins.

(495 posts)The audience is in the middle.
We cannot win the battle to save civilization by being barbarians. Yes, we have to battle them. But not belittle them. We need to do it with facts and an appeal to most people's desire for the parents to stop fighting. Combined with answers to the current dilemma and believable, understandable solutions for the future.
Otherwise all we do is feed the "Both Sides Bad" narrative so many people have.

(9,670 posts)With the caveat that whatever REAL reprehensible behavior we continue to reveal to the public that exposes them as the Ugly Americans that they are, they will show out-of-context footage of what a Republican thinks a liberal looks like.
Not only do they project, they fail to keep things in context, which means that if 100% of them do something and 1% of us does the same something, they will equate the two as equals. This is commonly known as being stupid.
