Op-Ed from yesterday's Hartford Courant regarding Greene's visit to an obscure corner of Connecticut yesterday. Plainfield is in a sparsely populated area about 3 miles from the Rhode Island border.
Edited to reduce the excerpt to 4 paragraphs, please visit the link for them, they're good, too.

You would be hard-pressed to find a person in Connecticut who doesnt remember the horror of Dec. 14, 2012. It was the day we all imagined what it would be like to stand in a room, waiting to know if our beloved child would be coming home or was killed in a barrage of bullets. We sent our children off to school, waving goodbye at the bus stop or the student drop-off, thinking about the days meetings, the chores, sports practice and dance lessons, only to later rush into our school parking lots to hug teachers and administrators as we held tight to our children and realized we didnt recognize the world anymore.
Twenty-six families (of adults and children) did more than imagine the feeling. They lived it. Those families are embedded in the hearts of Connecticuts people. We held vigils and filled sacred spaces to mourn and grieve. Board of education meetings in the following weeks held discussions about school safety, active shooter drills and new security systems. Budgets were adjusted to add police officers and security guards. Every child in school today is trained to move furniture against doors and hide in corners and closets.
Marjorie Taylor Greene used the deaths of those children and the children of Parkland to build her celebrity name, which later got her elected to Congress as an anti-establishment Republican. There are many words I would use to describe such a person. U.S. Representative should not be among them.

Im so sorry.
And YES, DEFINITELY please find a viable opposing candidate (to her and/or other republi-CONS up for re-election), and contribute if you can! Even a little bit can make a big difference.

(14,559 posts)these hateful tales of intrigue because someone wants to take their guns away.
I watched Sandy Hook happen on MSNB and CNN with a three year old grand child in my lap and two elementary school grandchildren in school not far away.
The last five minutes of those children's lives haunts me to this day. The deafening sound of gunfire in a classroom, crying and calling for mommy and daddy, looking to teacher to protect them when teacher is already dead. Five minutes too terrifying to conceive of yet they spent the last seconds of their lives that way.
I am not a violent man.
I can make exceptions . . .

At first it seemed like a minor isolated incident. Then as the police began releasing more and more information it got worse and worse.
By the time I got home around noon the full magnitude of it was known. A horrible day (and week)

I'm hoping it's not scheduled for December 14, but something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath.
EDITED TO ADD: Oh, Wait. It sounds like the rally was "yesterday." But this was published on Saturday, so that would mean it happened on Friday, if I'm understanding correctly. UGH.

(63,221 posts)I don't think so. She is nothing but a professional shit-stirrer and attention whore. This woman deserves to be smacked down so hard in her next election that it will break every bone in her body. May she then slither back to the sewer from where she came.

Unfortunately now there are too many, Representatives and Senators, who don't understand this and ignore their constituents but seem to care more about people in other districts and states.

Here's her letter (very similar to the Op-Ed):
Connecticut honors and respects the grief of the Sandy Hook families. Marjorie Taylor Greene used the deaths of those children to build her celebrity name. There are words I would use to describe her, but U.S. Representative is not one of them.
Protest, email, comment on the FB event, boycott K & H Construction and call for Plainfields leadership to condemn Greene.
Donate to candidates running against Greene: Democrats Marcus Flowers, Lateefah Conner, Wendy Davis and Republican Jennifer Strahan. Support those who recognize Greenes misinformation and lies as a danger to our democracy and honor the Sandy Hook victims. In the end, this is a decision for Sangermano. Does he stand with the victims of Sandy Hook, or does he stand with the liar who used them for self-promotion and political gain?
