I got the J&J in early March. Sore arm for a week, not much other reaction.
Friday afternoon, I got the Moderna booster. I felt fine the rest of the day, except my arm was even more sore. I went to bed a little early.
Saturday, I woke up and felt dizzy, and somewhat crappy. I also had a migraine, that's how my luck goes. I made coffee, walked my dog, ate a very small breakfast and made a trip to the post office. By noon I was back in bed. Woke up about 4:30, felt crappy, cold and still had the migraine. No actual fever. I made another cup of coffee then went back to bed. Got up about 7:30 pm feeling lousy, moved out to the couch and watched tv until 9 pm. I did have a fever then of about 100-101. Didn't eat anything, just drank tea, coffee and juice when I was awake and went back to bed at 9 pm.
Sunday (yesterday) I woke up on time and felt fairly OK. Not great or good, just OK. Migraine was gone, and I went back to work. Ate normal meals, still felt a little tired and weaker than usual, but didn't feel compelled to stay in bed sleeping again.
Today I feel fine, and in fact my arm is no longer sore. So the Moderna shot seems to have given me a reaction but less arm soreness.
A couple others from work got the J&J earlier, so I've been letting them know how things are going since I was first to get the booster.
It's worth a couple days of feeling tired and crappy to be safe.

(10,429 posts)Back then it was hard to find it in the city, and a lot of people went out to the country where they had excess vaccine and morons refusing it.
I could have gone that morning, but had things to do so I made the appointment for the afternoon. It was pretty simple, as it should be.

(182,799 posts)I should have a prescription filling this week so hopefully I can get the booster.

(10,429 posts)That's about the time it took me even though they were actually busier than last March. Which is a good sign. Several others there were also getting flu shots, and there were a couple people who clearly had other medical issues.
I was in a Walgreens the previous weekend to pick up a Fedex shipment, went by the pharmacy to see about getting the moderna shot, but they had a really big crowd.
Seems like the hardcore morons are just the loud media-amplified minority. From the looks of the local pharmacies I've been to, more are getting vaxxed now than last spring.

(3,257 posts)I get my booster Moderna Thursday. I had J&J in April. I know the people who got Moderna, originally, get a half dose for their booster. Are J&J folks also getting a half dose?
FoxNewsSucks
(10,429 posts)Judging from the reaction compared to what others said they got from getting Moderna first, it seems to have worked the way it should.

(9,265 posts)Moderna booster after getting J & J in March. Saturday is my granddaughters family birthday party. Ill make the cupcakes and whatever else I usually make for these things (dip and a side dish) on Friday evening in case I feel too crappy to actually attend.

(57,439 posts)First shot, on a Friday afternoon in early April -- no problem.
Second shot, on a Friday afternoon at the end of April -- woke up, went downstairs, had a cup of coffee, crawled back up the steps and went back to bed. Stayed there 'til noon.
That second shot -- smh.
End of October -- I'll be getting a message to come on in. I will.

(31,823 posts)Just had my booster on Saturday.
Little to no reaction with the first two . . .
Down for the count yesterday. My advice to folks getting boosters - plan little or nothing the next day.

(2,015 posts)No reaction to the first one, a little fatigued after the second one, got my booster last Thursday and it kicked my butt for two days.
Friday I was a little achy when I woke up but it went away quickly but the headache and tiredness hung on all day. Saturday I seriously couldn't stay awake. I felt better yesterday but just took out easy and spent a lazy day watching Midsomer Murders

(4,613 posts)first 2 not much of anything but a sore arm.
But the booster - within about 30 mins of returning home was hit with chills, headache, exhaustion and general malaise that lasted until I woke up the next day.

Easiest thing Ive done medically ever. I get my prescriptions there. Didnt have to show ID, signed one form at the beginning, that was it. I feel pretty well protected I just wish America wasnt having such an intelligence deficit

(5,942 posts)Is like 9.8 times more powerful (antibody wise) than staying with J&J for the booster (if I recall correctly). NIH study. Here's the link:

(10,429 posts)and the RNA science is more modern.
It's really unfortunate that all the news channels are so influenced by the paid advertising from Big Pharma that they don't inform us of what is really the best thing to do.
Just look at all the drug ads on them. I've even seen ads for regeneron. All that is really nothing more than bribery to the networks to either give favorable coverage or "not cover" negative things.

(10,429 posts)In fact, years ago I was reminded of that the hard way. At a martial arts class I went to, you found out real quickly that when you got hit to keep moving whatever arm or leg it was in order to avoid soreness. One time at a sparring class, I got kicked hard in the thigh, and didn't think anything of it until after going home, loading the car for my 4 hour road trip, and then trying to get out of the car on a pitstop after 2 hours. I almost fell over. I was limping for 3 days. Had I been home and moving/stretching instead that afternoon, I would have had no problem.
Weird thing is, when I got my J&J I had time to use my arm/shoulder more yet it hurt more for a week, the booster worried me as I didn't move nearly as much but the soreness was gone by this morning.
Hard to predict. But it is such a relief to have good protection from the MAGAt moron spreaders.

(12,260 posts)Moderna for booster on Thursday. Each shot where she had sore arm for weeks. This time besides the sore arm, she got chills, then fever and feeling crappy all over her body. This lasted 2 days. She still has a sore arm but it's subsiding and feeling much much better, no chills or fever.

(8,964 posts)Your after-effects description for each day were almost identical to mine, except that I did not have chills. Started feeling a bit washed out later in the evening. Saturday was fatigue, malaise, minor achiness, bad headache, low appetite, and an evening low-grade fever topping off at 100F. Just about the same stuff as had followed my second jab. Yesterday I was doing considerably better through the course of the day with the headache the last symptom to abate, and today feeling great after a restful night. And yes, well worth it for the safety of myself and others.

(1,204 posts)In January 2021 I was in a study for NovaVax and had virtually no reaction. Turns out, this vaccine is still not totally approved so my boss forced me tp get vax'd using an accepted vax. At CVS they gave me Moderna which did KICK me just like what I am reading in these postings.
There is a difference between Pfizer, Moderna, J&J and NovaVax, with Moderna producing the more uncomfortable reactions.

(28,859 posts)The next morning I was nauseous, achey, had a hot body,
and a very sore arm.
I did not medicate.
The next day all of those symptoms were practically gone.
I moved my arm a lot this time around. It lessened the
soreness and made it go away faster.
I got a wicked flu-like reaction to Moderna # 2 in March. We are scheduled for boosters this Thursday.
Not looking forward to it!!
But at least I already got my flu vax back a couple weeks ago so thats all thru my system.

(42 posts)My spouse was just fine. No reaction at all. However it totally kicked my ass for 2.5 days. I had all the symptoms except the taste and smell issues. I broke thru at around 4AM on day 3. Within hours, I was fine.
Even though it was a total pain in the ass, I feel it was well worth it.

First Shot Moderna: No reaction other than swollen/sore upper arm.
Second Shot Moderna: 102 degree fever for 36 hours and extremely sore lower back pain (could NOT get comfortable)
Booster Moderna: TBD and hoping for the best.

(6,591 posts)One thing I noticed when getting the original vaccines was that people seemed to have the strongest reaction the 2nd time their immune response was activated. For those who hadn't had COVID that was the 2nd shot. For folks like me who had COVID then got vaccinated (Moderna) a few months later, my second immune response was to the 1st shot, & as expected I had the worst reaction to it. I had no reaction to the 2nd shot & in fact felt great the next day, it seemed to eliminate some shortness of breath & lack of energy issues I attributed to being down with COVID for 3 months.
All of this has made me curious about what my reaction to the booster will be. I believe I'll be eligible for one in January.

(2,671 posts)after any of my vaccines, including the booster I got a couple of weeks ago. Each time, it was Pfizer. I kind of worry that my little fighter antibodies never woke up, but I've read that this is nothing to worry about. I hope that's true.
FoxNewsSucks
(10,429 posts)that is so odd. Either a reaction or no reaction is supposed to be a "sign" that it worked.
I had no reaction in March, and never got covid so I guess I can assume that J&J has done its job for the last 7 1/2 months.
Now I'll find out if the "new" science is effective.

(10,429 posts)Last year, when temp checks started, I used it and consistently got a 96 or so degree temp on my forehead. I think that all the suddenly-expensive "official" temp-check thermometers do is add 2 degrees to the forehead reading.
