So I wonder if Bill Maher and the others who lecture us endlessly about cancel culture

will have even one word to say about this.

https://www.joemygod.com/2021/10/pastor-forces-school-to-cancel-play-with-gay-character/

The fall play at a high school in southwest Ohio was canceled suddenly, reportedly because of concerns that a character in the play was gay.

Students at Hillsboro High School still were in rehearsals for “She Kills Monsters,” which was scheduled to open in less than a month at the school’s new auditorium, WCPO Channel 9 reports. The play is about a high school senior who tries to learn more about her late sister’s life, with implications that the dead character was gay.

The cancellation comes one week after some parents and a local pastor confronted the play’s directors at a meeting, Local 12 reports. The pastor, Jeff Lyle [photo] from Good News Gathering, denies pressuring school officials, but tells WCPO he supports canceling the play

end of quote

it would be nice to see this covered by Maher but I figure I have a better chance of winning the Boston Marathon.

...but I'm fairly certain pastor Jeff Lyle's cause would garner nothing but ridicule from him.

But some of us (too many) don't know that authoritarian deplatforming is not great, so we apparently do need to be told why it's stupid coming from our side.

His audience is liberal/left. He knows that. That's why half the time he's talking directly to us. Which should be obvious, but isn't somehow after all these years.

He's not going to throw down about every banal occurrence of right-wing dumb, when he knows his audience already agrees with him on it.

He's not, you know, cable news.

Eff Bill Maher. He's on my no fly list, and has been for several years. why isn't he on everyone's no fly list?

Unless you love being lectured to by a narcissistic hypocritical a-hole , I have a boat load of other terms we often applied to tfg.

The occasional red meat is the con. isn't that obvious?

Right-wingers shutting down a play because of a gay character is a usual right-winger thing.
