An extraordinary dissent from a grant to qualified immunity to officers who shot an innocent, unarmed 20-year-old to death following an unconstitutional stop. https://ca10.uscourts.gov/sites/ca10/files/opinions/010110595657.pdf… h/t @MikeSacksEsq

Judge Lucero concludes by quoting the victim's brother, who was present at the shooting and detained for five hours afterward. https://ca10.uscourts.gov/sites/ca10/files/opinions/010110595657.pdf

That fucking cop should have been charged with 1st degree murder. He shot the victim in the back, when he didn't stop when he was told to. FIRST DEGREE MURDER!

Hold the fucking cops responsible!

In immediate response, Officer Cruz placed his finger on his gun’s trigger and shot Mr. Taylor twice in the chest—firing in quick succession and killing him. One bullet hit Mr. Taylor’s heart. The other cut Mr. Taylor’s left hand and entered his abdomen.

He could still be charged criminally. And, I’m assuming the family can appeal this judge’s decision.

But yeah, sounds like some deep pockets should pay up, even if it won’t bring Dillion Taylor back, maybe it will prevent next one, better hiring and training, etc.
