Woah doggie!!
I feel like shit warmed over right now.
The two original vaccines I got were Moderna. The first shot made me tired for a day.
The second shot of Moderna I got a flu shot the same day. Felt crappy but no fever, body aches and a sore itchy arm but it was tolerable,at night it got a bit worse but it was mostly gone by morning.
The J&J booster I got last night is knocking me for a loop compared to the Moderna reactions.
I got a fever ,chills,brain shock effects,aches, nausea tiredness,
my arm hurts and is a bit hot, not red much
and the nerve damage in my back hurts more than usual .
I am reacting big time to J&J.
Decided to mix vaccine types and I think, even though it sucks right now,I did the right thing mixing it up.
My body is learning what covid is so it can kill it,and so I felt like shit late last night, after the shot, all day today and its still shitty feeling into the night.
I hope I'm better when I wake up tomorrow.

(34,109 posts)I did all 3 of mine with Pfizer. Around here when I got my 3rd they would not mix them.
Wishing you a good evening and a bright and better morning.
Doesn't it feel good to know you did the right thing and are protected? Ahhhhhhh.

(12,470 posts)I thought it might have a better range of cover.
My info regrettably was a few days old because back than it was thought if you mixed moderna and j&j your antibodies seemed to go up more than moderna to moderna.
I hope my mistake has not doomed my antibody rates.

The scientific studies didnt show a clear winner, but did show that all the booster shots offered strong antibody response no matter what the combination.
Part of the beauty of the mix and match is it enables people no matter where they are rural or in the city to have a choice, said Dr. Kirsten E. Lyke, a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine who presented early results of a booster shot trial to the F.D.A. vaccine panel. Theyre all safe, theyre all going to give you a boost, and theyre all going to protect you against severe disease and death.

(44,973 posts)Using J&J after Moderna doesn't produce a better boost in antibodies compared to using Moderna or Pfizer after Moderna.

(12,470 posts)I hope eventually it becomes a yearly shot like the flu shot.
Then it will always be moderna.
LisaL
(44,973 posts)It's just not a better boost than you would have gotten with Moderna boost.
But it should still be good.

(13,493 posts)You will have more antibodies than if you didn't get the booster. Your body is still doing the work to protect you.
Glad you got it. And hope you feel better soon! xx

(526 posts)First of all it's a preprint. The entire study isn't available at the link.
The abstract says that mixing vaccines gives a better antibody response than getting the same vaccine. So getting Janssen after Moderna should be good.

(28,340 posts)that those who had Janssen for their initial vaccine benefited greatly from either a Moderna or Pfizer booster.
Data also show that those who had Moderna saw higher ab levels when booste with Pfizer and visa/versa.
I haven't seen any studies of anyone taking an mRNA vaccine initially that then elected for a Janssen booster. That's why I asked.
ETA: you obviously had a robust immune response - that's GREAT! A very good sign.

(12,470 posts)Jandj was the booster.
Godammit a few days ago it was so confusing and I thought j and j enhanced moderna.
I guess I cant fucking read.
Got diabeties and im scared of catching covid.
Maru Kitteh
(28,340 posts)a very favorable immune response! THAT is very good evidence in your favor. I haven't seen any studies showing data for J&J after Moderna/Pfizer.
You still did a great thing for your immunity!
Talk to your MD in a couple months and see what she/he recommends.

(44,973 posts)Mine did as well to the Moderna boost after two Modernas.

(13,493 posts)the same thing as a side effect?
And you know that UP is feeling anxious about the J&J booster, so why keep negating the benefits of it?
