Jayapal implies that House WILL vote on BIF and BBB BEFORE the Senate votes on BBB

She said both bills would be passed at the same time, and called it a “leap of faith” with her senate colleagues.

Just now on Rachel.

Is the senate in recess this weekend, or are they working like the house?

1. Glad she finally agrees with Speaker Pelosi.

Pelosi had called for this from the very beginning.

We'll see. ..not holding my breath at all.

2. "Leap of faith" sounds like she's in now, and maybe

she always really was. For someone who's only been in congress for 2 years, trying to both exercise leadership of a Democratic caucus at this historic point and please voters demanding a rebel must have been a hairy learning experience. If she's half as competent as I'd like to think she is, though, she's been coordinating her actions with Pelosi all along.

Some here really hoped Jayapal'd blow up the BIF/BBB (!), so I was trying to imagine her or anyone being insane enough to do that as Democrats pulled it together. For sure it'd secure that person a mention in the history books (!!), but also destroy his or her future in the Democratic Party. Likely electoral politics altogether.

5. I won't hold my breath believing this will be the same way tomorrow

Pelosi knows it will fail in the Senate if the 2 are passed together.

Seriously, Jayapal has played a game here also & blowing it up is very much a reality, so negotiating is the careful step that needs to be considered if you really want this bill to succeed at all.

What good are her demands if it gets killed in the Senate. Legislating isn't an all or nothing game. Unless you can convince people that
"Nothing actually is better than something", after it crashes & dies.

6. :) Please don't say it could still fail altogether

before I head off to bed. I have faith too.

As for people who'd prefer to give America nothing than the historic something Democrats are crafting, I suspect most who could feel that way have to search social media to find others who'd also could.

7. She said it to a group of her supporters on a podcast a week ago.

When asked if she'd vote no on the $2 tr bill because it wasn't enough.
Her answer was Yes she would because "Nothing is better than something"

However she wasn't that absolute when asked on TV.

Those are her words. So what's changed in a week?

Who knows. Its just a freakin power game to some, I guess.

9. I remember hearing that, and probably her saying it another time.

Scared me good because she's too new and untried not to be an unknown. No ethical person responsible to the public would threaten such an extreme, waay over the line action (they're not naming a post office here), but one who didn't recognize limits on a public servant's actions might.

As we've seen, some people really would throw all our big national goals and the needs of 225 million people, including climate, under the bus, for all the world as if they considered them theirs to trash if they felt like it.

8. They should have just voted today and followed the President's lead.

It seems some of the progressives will even now only listen to Bernie. No matter how good the intentions are you have to be aware of image and timing. This looks awful and hurts the whole party at a critical time.

10. They've played this game against the Democratic Party since early 2012

...self-declared Communist Zack Exley, back in 1991 then visited Russia.

2012 he returned to Russia & returned to form Brand New Congress, joined with Justice Dems & merged with Sanders' campaign where he secured a massive voter data base.

There's much more but this is the guy who once worked for both Kerry & Obama campaigns. Is that where he suddenly arrived at the slogan GND, which conveniently became the mantra of his new Party? Tho they've yet to write GND policy proposal or legislate a bill.
Both Kerry & Obama addressed Climate issues & Green New Deal in their campaigns & admins.

Did Exley heist it from those 2 campaigns?
Lowdown ain't it, if so.
Makes ya wonder what else was borrowed, to sloganeer his new Party.
And who's he visit in Russia in 2012 when he was forming his new Party to run oppo the Dem Party in 2016?

I have the source for all this reveal. Someone did the research (with receipts) .

It was always suspicious & now we know why.

11. I've wondered but not followed how Jayapal became the progressive

caucus chair, talented but still new to congress. The progressive caucus has somewhere around 100 members. 30 signed on to her threat to destroy both Democratic Party bills, so that's probably a good part of the explanation.

For sure the @60 progressive caucus members who refused, and the rest of our 220/224 members, must be very uneasy about that threat and what it might auger. Hopefully just a one-off.

In any case, regarding Exley et al, the goals of groups with anti-Democratic agendas would be wonderfully advanced by even much less important legislation being blown up from within. Probably sharing fantasies with McConnell et al about that.
