First frost predicted for tonight

This is about three weeks later than our average (Oct. 10). I didn't look to see what it was last year but I'm almost positive it was around Oct. 25. We are slowly creeping toward being in Zone 7 here in the northern Shenandoah. How about y'all?

I see freeze warnings for the Valley.

Frost warning for Nelson, Albemarle, Spotsylvania and Eastern Loudoun Counties lots of others too.

I'd bet we don't have it at my lower elevation but will bring in plants anyway.

8. We've had frost

For awhile here in NY-21 (near Canadian border and home of “She Lies” Stefanik.

Today, as we are nearing the end of packing to head south for the winter (North Carolina - Emerald Isle), we have just gotten sleet for a spell, and before that we had some hail. Chilly out there.

Be careful on damp outside surfaces! They can appear dry and still be slippery.

11. We had our first hard freeze last night.

It's warming up now, west of that arctic air mass moving across the middle of the country. We caught the leading edge but now have a warm air flow from the south warming us up for a few more days.

12. I'm in southern NH and yesterday I picked the last of the green peppers. That's just nuts.

It's supposed to go below freezing tonight, so I imagine that's the ball game for everything but kale.
