Has anyone heard how the antivax crowd is reacting to the news about the new antiviral drug for covid? I'm just wondering if they're going to be willing to take it if they get covid. Seeing as how it was developed by the company (Pfizer) that makes one of the vaccines they don't trust any farther than they can throw a grand piano, will they mistrust the antiviral, too?
The way I see it, if they accept that drug, they will no longer have any excuse to refuse the vaccine, and we can all point and laugh at them.
I'll be interested to see how this shakes out.

EDIT: And if Democrats come out strongly FOR it, they'll probably refuse to take it.

(15,493 posts)He definitely downplayed masks and the vaccines, though.
His cult followers were already paranoid, of course, being convinced by right-wing media that the pandemic was a ploy to damage Trump's supposed "great economy", despite how that was a false narrative in itself.

(112,868 posts)Just as Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin®) was one of the first drugs to go generic in the US and has been for decades--remains the 38th most prescribed medication in the US--while Bayer (Aspirin® continues to drive the market despite a long-expired exclusive patent .

(112,868 posts)Do you REALLY think you need to tell DUers that Ivermectin doesn't work for COVID-19? REALLY?
The point was MERCK is selling a lot of it and wins regardless. Which is true.

(18,548 posts)Its an interesting article and hardly Covid denial stuff. Relevant because it talks about big drug makers.

(112,868 posts)I suspect you did not read the subthread and thus made a wrong assumption. But, regardless this was not the case.

(7,794 posts)when they try to get that pill into a syringe. Or, even better, when they find out the pills will cost $ while the government provided vaccine injection was free.
Hey, but that's what pharmaceutical companies do, right? Like medical "rangers", they tame the wild, the borderlands of health options, harnessing the power of disease, turning it into business.

(6,088 posts)Since Merck was the first pill to come out and Merck also makes Ivermectin, they are accusing them of simply repackaging it for a profit.
I have seen that theory many times already
