How I got trumpers to actually search for the truth.

Last edited Mon Nov 8, 2021, 06:01 PM - Edit history (1)

Last week at a local bar & grill, I'm sitting with 7/8 trumpers in my red town when naturally one started badmouthing
Biden in attempting to get under my skin. The conversation evolved into how Qrump gave us the highest standard of
living in the world, and with that remark I agreed and then asked "What other countries are in the top 5 ? Look up
countries with the highest standard of living someone". 4 smart phones went to work, 2 were busy reading how the
studies were graded, the other 2 deplorables started yelling fake news at me, told them to yell at their phones not
me, "I had nothing to do with those surveys". At least I gave about half of them something to think about.
Have you ever googled "countries with the highest standard of living" ? Could be the conversation starter you need.

rejected, but a FEW of them might actually learn.

Hey, I think the fascists will be in charge in a couple years and we are gonna all be in trouble, so I have given up trying to talk to them.

Definition of Critical Republican Theory:

A tendency for Republicans to be critical of any theory, idea, or statement that they haven't already accepted as truth, regardless of whether or not they have any clue as to what it is they are being critical of. This includes, but is not limited to, anything said by any Democrat, and anything presented by the liberal media.

They're very reluctant to pull out their smart phones if they think they're being set up for disappointment.
I've challenged that Friday group many times to look something up and the few times they do, they refuse
to share the information (well at least in my presence) with others. Got lucky agreeing with them and
asking what I did. They had a difficult time discussing the results they found among themselves.
Now younger people will jump on the suggestion to look anything up. P.S. I burst out laughing when
one said " What we're 15th? "

redirect to an alternate view. That is why it worked, I failed to notice that in the post, or failed to link your agreement with them to their willingness to look. And didn't say something like, oh that doesn't sound right, instead you agreed and said, let's confirm it.

Perfect! I took notes. I am going to use it when an opportunity strikes.
