He has protected one of the world's great rain forest in the Tongass, gave protection to Bristol Bay and the Copper River
River Watershed and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, protected the Grand Staircase Escalante/Bears Ears
lands in Utah, stopped Trump's idea to drill for oil and gas in the Chaco Canyon area in New Mexico, and reinstated
President Obama's Marine National Monument in the N. Atlantic which will preserve and protect wild fish stocks for generations.

... 1st day on the job and then got a longer period of protection by use of the "clean water act" a few months
ago. I think he stopped a huge mine upstream in the Copper River Watershed but I might be wrong.

We know someone who is a commercial fisherman there. Unfortunately we can only afford to buy from him at the holidays - very expensive! Which I get, because the Copper River run is highly regulated and protected, which it should be.

We buy most of our salmon from Costco - only wild Pacific (I'm in the PNW). Believe it or not, Costco is really careful about sourcing their products!

The closest environmentally was NIXON!!! He signed the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, The Clean Drinking Water Act, and Earth Day into law, just to name a few. T

hese were all put on Nixon's desk by the Democrats led by Gaylord Nelson (and William Proxmire) of Wisconsin (yea), and Nixon signed them, which today sounds nuts!
