Presidential powers transferred to Harris today as Biden has colonoscopy

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/19/politics/kamala-harris-presidential-power/index.html

CNN)President Joe Biden on Friday will temporarily transfer power to Vice President Kamala Harris while he is under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters.

"The Vice President will work from her office in the West Wing during this time," Psaki said in a statement.
Biden arrived Friday morning at Walter Reed Medical Center to undergo a routine annual physical -- his first physical in office as the oldest first-term president in US history.
It's routine for a vice president to assume presidential powers while the president undergoes a medical procedure that requires anesthesia. Then-Vice President Dick Cheney did so on multiple occasions when then-President George W. Bush underwent routine colonoscopies.

The temporary #2 is also a woman--Nancy Pelosi, who is 2nd in line after the VP.

DH gets colonoscopies often as he has Crohn’s. I will tell him he’s in good company today.

Guarantee they will start speculating and saying “questions are being asked” about whether Biden went in for a senility analysis.

Without saying who is supposedly asking these questions.

The media and republicans will need a distraction from all the good news coming out of congress today. Can't have too much GOOD news, especially if it involves Democrats.

for someone his age to get "routine" colonoscopies? They stop here at age 70 (for an otherwise healthy individual) - those older only get yearly FIT testing, followed by a colonoscopy if anything adverse if detected.

Maybe it's a presidential thing?

The VA sends me to my non-VA gastroenterologist every 3 years because my mother and maternal grandmother both died of colon cancer before they turned 60. I also get an endoscopy every 3 years. The pre-op isn't bad since the powder put into a water jug doesn't taste if you use lemonade instead of water.

in your case, having a familial history, it would be indicated. I used to mix the stuff with apple juice and ginger ale (you can use any juice as long as it's clear and not reddish in colour).

BTW, for some strange reason, I just had an image of giving a colonoscopy to TFG (shudder).

That he got work accomplished while undergoing the hideous prep required of a colonoscopy! I am in awe!

The press can take a flying leap!
