I will shoot food, am a better shot than most and have shot food many times in my life. As far as humans, in a test range I tend to make faster, more accurate decisions on what is a threat than most and my aim is excellent. I don't get flustered. Twice in younger life I have been in a situation but managed to de-escalate and avoid the need. Thankfully.

The truth is, I doubt I could kill someone to save my own skin. It would have to be an extra-ordinary circumstance where the lives of other defenseless people were immediately in the balance. Even then, I think I would hesitate.

Even when justified in the eyes of a jury under the laws as written pulling that trigger puts a hell of a crimp in a person's life. Even more so if they decide against you. So you'd better be sure.

What I am saying is if you are going to carry, you'd better be well practiced and know your limits. You have to be honest with yourself about what you will or will not do in the moment. Most people are far better off avoiding the situation in the first place. Think long and hard about it because once someone is dead, there's no going back.
