White supremacists can kill, even when they kill white people (if those white people are sympathetic to Justice for Black people).
They want a race war fueled by violence in the streets.
Re: the lynching of Ahmaud Arbery...
These good ole boys from Georgia just wanted to talk to Arbery to demand that he explain his actions and presence in their white neighborhood. And when he dared flee for his life, they simply reverted to their ancestors' history of hunting runaway Black people and killing him as they believe is their right.
Be an ally for a large number of people who are terrified right now, especially if you are privileged and white.

(39,343 posts)I used to live there. Its rural as fuck, law enforcement is worshipped, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center is there, white people railroad minorities without end.
I'm 45 minutes away from there now and will be hitting the streets next week if I have the energy (health).

(1,954 posts)KR had a case for self-defense, whereas every action the Georgia twits made was aggressive. They were armed, they outnumbered Arbery, and they actively pursued him. They were hunting him, pure as day. Just as I was certain of KR's not-guilty result, I'm just as certain that these guys get hammered with every charge against them.

(43,182 posts)Those factors are:
1. An 18 year old defendant (jury is naturally going to be more reluctant to want to convict)
2. Less sympathetic victims
3. A far less grounded and less restrained judge presiding over the case.
Both Rittenhouse and Arbery's killers are equally culpable IMHO, but the luck of the draw favored Rittenhouse.

(1,954 posts)We can make up fantastical and unreal reasons all we want about why Rittenhouse got off, but no one who had even the faintest, most barebones knowledge about the case (or indeed law in general) expected KR to wind up "Guilty". The Arbery murderers have no such evidence or testimony to fall back on, and they will end up incarcerated, hopefully for several decades if not longer.
KR/Arbery case are NOTHING alike. There was no luck involved, only facts.

(1,902 posts)So can one own a gun at all, be a democrat and not be
a "racist gunhumper?" If I ever own a gun to protect myself while traveling
through some shithole white trash region am I a gunhumper too? I just want
to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. Perhaps when I'm run off the road
by some coal-rolling asshole, I can summon all the rhetorical weapons I have
at my disposal and convince said asshole not to kill me.
do you know the difference between a a gun owner and gun humper?
then perhaps you should not have one
over and OUT

(89,252 posts)The issue with the Rittenhouse case to me is more that I think a black person would have been convicted because they are black. They wouldn't have accepted the reasons Rittenhouse gave for why he did what he did if it was a black person.

(14,855 posts)... argue that Arbery reached for the gun (which video showed did happen), so the two rednecks then feared their own gun would be used against them.
In that regard, it's similar to Rittenhouse who brought a gun to an unlawful assembly. Then the Rittenhouse lawyers argued that his first shooting victim was reaching for his gun when he hadn't even touched it (unlike Arbery who did), so Rittenhouse had reason to fear for his life and act in "self defense". So messed up!

(5,586 posts)This incident took place in the boonies. I mean, way out there, never seen a building higher than 2 stories, Dukes of Hazzard style boonies.
The fact that there are so many white people on the jury is because that's the entire jury pool available out there. Guaranteed there are 12 to 13 Trump voters on that jury of 15 people.
