But it has been true since our founding that as long as you take a life under the circumstances the law allows, you dont go to prison
Now, if one believes in judgement upon death, and that violating the commandments can send you to hell, well, lets just say no honest and sincere Christian should be happy about todays verdict.

Killing in self defense, while tragic and horrible, is not the same as killing with malice, or by negligence.
Perhaps it is better to argue the merits of the verdict than make blanket statements.
I think that Rittenhouse, showing up armed, to a protest, with no business being there, would negate self defense. If he had not been there, the deaths would not have occurred. If he had shown up unarmed and delivered medical aid as he claims, he would not have drawn any attention to himself and the deaths would not have occurred. He went armed and created the situation that resulted in those deaths. He directly caused those deaths. He killed people with intent. Unfortunately, we live in a system where self defense can be perverted.
