Do you receive phone calls from police organizations soliciting political donations?

I get quite a few here in Indiana asking for help in supporting legislation for law enforcement and lobbying. I'm not nice to them.

As a union member in the private sector I find it offensive that they are calling people that are not their members. My union solicits and receives donations only from the members.

The same should apply to those in the public sector. They have enough members that should be able to find their own PACs to support lobbying for their issues. Teachers do it and police and firefighters should do the same. Not once have I received a call from a teacher's organization soliciting so called funds.

I just say 'No thank you." I have no difficulty finding ways to donate without having to be called and solicited.

Nearly always the calls I get are a man with a really official sounding voice.

"Hello ma'am this is ( always garbled name ) calling on behalf of the (always garbled ) Sherriff's dept."

I hang up.

Once their caller ID was my own phone number.

These people are predators. Period. Full stop.

Usually male who spouts a few words including "they want to defund the police", etc. at which point I get ticked and say, "No one is talking about defunding the damn police. Stop calling me." Phone slam follows.
I mostly weed out the fundraising calls.

answering machine. My message is "I don't have caller ID so you will have to speak up and identify yourself for me to answer the phone. If I don't answer the phone I may not be here, but you can leave a message so I can get back to you. Thank you for calling, have a good day." This stopped most of the junk calls. Well, it didn't stop them, but they don't identify themselves and just hang up. I don't have to listen to them, or the truckers who call wanting to haul my produce. (I only grow enough to go to a couple of farmers markets.)
