Demoralized and Helpless.
I'm wondering if you had to pick two words that describe your feeling right now - what would they be?

There are things beyond my control...the Rittenhouse verdict for example. He is guilty, but was acquitted...there is nothing I can do right now. Build back better passed in the House and that is reason to celebrate. Why concentrate on the negative which you can't change when there is reason to be happy and optimistic in the passing of what IMHO is a historic bill?

(24,303 posts)to at least modify gun laws. If it's legal for a 17-year-old to openly carry an AR-15 with one in the chamber (he admitted this during testimony) then I think a good many people may think that law may need a little tweaking.

Today house Democrats also passed the giant BBB social infrastructure bill, landmark, nation-shaping legislation that will benefit many millions of people, in every state. Now it goes to the senate, and we need to prepare ourselves for that battle. We may reach agreements and pass it quickly, but otoh it took Pelosi and Reid over a year to get the ACA passed, during which time the media announced it dead or nearly so a number of times. (Reid said he thought so at times, Pelosi never did.)
It took that long in large part because Pelosi insisted on passing a comprehensive national healthcare program and would not allow it to be cut back to core, "passable" elements. But they did it, and that's what we need to keep in mind. Also that it's a reconciliation bill and it can be passed with no Republican support.
