General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsJust as the right is now using PeeWee Rittenhouse as a prop, the Left
can use him and his case as more evidence for the need for common sense gun legislation.
Also, never stop referring to him as a murderer. Regardless of what the jury decided,
and regardless of any "self defense" law, he murdered two people, and tried to murder a third.

(52 posts)why Rittenhouse has not been charged for his role in the illegal straw purchase.
That's a federal offense.

(12,444 posts)There are no Civil Rights charges that apply.
No Federal Crimes.
No second "bite of the apple" because people don't like the State verdict.

Thanks for the article. Like everyone else here, I find this acquittal completely unacceptable. The kid crossed state lines with an automatic weapon and shot two people to death!

(52 posts)I don't see why he can not be charged with conspiring to break federal straw purchase law.

(12,444 posts)It's called lying on your form 4473 which is filled out by the buyer.
This is basic stuff... don't like the laws then change them.

(52 posts)conspired to lie on form 4473.
That's conspiracy to violate federal law.

(12,444 posts)Without precedent how do you think that'd fly in Court?
Like the President said, get over it, the Jury has spoken.
I personally urge all to push their State Legislatures to change laws to cut down on this kind of thing happening again.
This wouldn't have happened in California.
of people have been charged, convicted and put in prison for conspiracy.
The law is already there.
He conspired to violate federal law.

(16,846 posts)in the Rittenhouse case. A friend of Kyle's bought the gun legally, then gave it to Kyle. No gun laws would have kept the friend from giving Kyle the weapon. He didn't care about the law when he gave the gun to him. Besides, the friend is being charged for for doing it, I've read recently. He could get up to 25 years, the article said. You can't prevent law breakers from ignoring laws; all you can do is punish them for doing it.

At some point there has to be changes in the availability of firearms.

It has a good alliterative sound, but the word "murderer" is more specific and accurate.

(12,213 posts)kneeling in the street and shooting an assault rifle at unarmed people to know he is a cold blooded murderer. You know. I know it. The defense knows it. The judge knows it.
Racism is alive and killing. Thats all that is going on here: a modern version of hanging them from the nearest tree.

I think he will be getting verbally assaulted in public, getting his ass kicked and maybe worse the rest
of his sorry life. He can't hide behind MAGAts, Proud Boys and Tucker forever.
