....out to the Sherriffs Deputies' cars in handcuffs.

Nothing wrong with feeling safer.

(47,307 posts)They knew the prosecutor had them by the short hairs?

(8,986 posts)but the first one in particular looked like he was about to cry when the first guilty verdict was read. After that he was just frozen.

(47,307 posts)You are right, at some point in the trial, reality began to sink in.
They probably held some small hope that the jury would be racist and set them free.
But they were prepared for the worst.
Ilsa
(61,697 posts)they looked angry, scared, guilty, incredulous at different times among the three of them.
The father and son looked more angry and guilty, like they can't believe their defense and lies against a young black man didn'tpersuade the jury.
The third man looked scared and guilty. His lawyer tried to sell him as a simpleton.
Irish_Dem
(47,307 posts)Shocked that no one was buying their nonsense.
Then resigned today it sounds like.
Sounds like the stages of grieving. They have deservedly lost their freedom for a very long time.
Thank you for the details....

(61,697 posts)and be angry about not getting a white supreme man's acquittal. I hope they are frustrated about how the culture is changing.

(47,307 posts)Will they ever understand that their belief system is wrong and that times are changing in their state.
Or just be angry until they die.

(5,969 posts)and testify himself. It might have saved him from getting guilty verdicts for some of the charges. He needed a clear separation from the McMichaels, in my opinion, but his lawyer was too focused on black pastors.

(16,786 posts)Too many Black Pastors in the Court room in order to intimidate the Jury?
The audacity of the white Defense Attorney to even suggest that in the first place.
Ilsa
(61,697 posts)the appeals will likely be denied.
The federal charges are next, and more of the despicable, racist behavior will be exposed.

(36,130 posts)Black people have had it, and GA has the biggest black/white population ration in the country. Will black people in GA tip their hand; of course not, not with fragile guilt ridden whites.
So it's way more practical on the ground than we think. IMHO, we have a privileged bias that keeps us thinking that whites on this jury only decided from a justice standpoint. I don't think so.

The white people on the jury had no choice.

(5,969 posts)for being joyful that those fuckers are being put away, some of the last words that Arbery heard as he was laying on the ground, dying, were reportedly "Fking n-word".

(58,785 posts)They've had to watch this coming for over a year now and now get to find out if they will serve life in prison with or without chance of parole.
Then off to their federal trial on hate crime charges, and the maximum there is the death penalty. So the no-fun continues.

(14,176 posts)In the same county where the former DA chose not to charge them and the cops fumbled the investigation from the beginning. We're just lucky there was video and the guy who recorded it was dumb enough to let it get out in the public because the same folks who are now keeping them behind bars spent 70 days making sure they didn't end up there.
