6. How Awful

Do you know what state it's in? I haven't seen one of those signs since 1967, at the very latest, and it was at at gas station in rural Mississippi when I was a kid and my family was going to Florida on vacation. It clearly stated who was to use the indoor restrooms and who had to go "out back." Disgusting. And to see something like this in 2012-- how very sad & senseless.

It's not that I'm shocked there's racism in Ohio. . . It's just that I wouldn't have expected to such overt signs of it there! Nonetheless, as disgusting as it is, we must realize that it's the work of ONE person and doesn't reflect on the population at large.

12. I am old enough to remember bathrooms and drinking fountains labled

as white and colored. I remember also restaurants with signs as white only and blacks having to sit in the back of the bus. I am appalled at this throwback to the 1950s.
