Ron Paul hates invasive government but supports state-mandated sonograms

By Lori Stahl and Mary C. Curtis

WEST COLUMBIA, South Carolina — When GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul was asked today about Tuesday’s federal court ruling upholding an aggressive new sonogram law in his home state of Texas, the congressman said the requirement that women seeking an abortion first get a sonogram “should always have been a Texas state position.’’

“Like Roe v Wade should never have been heard in the Supreme Court,” he said after a midday speech and rally at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at the Eagle Aviation Building .

Paul, who opposes abortion rights, has consistently railed against intrusive Big Brother government when it comes to other issues, especially health care reform. But it’s hard to imagine anything more literally invasive than a required sonogram.

In fact, Dr. Paul’s colleagues in the Texas Medical Association came out against the law last year, saying it “not only sets a dangerous precedent of legislation prescribing the details of the practice of medicine, but it also clearly mandates that physicians practice in a manner inconsistent with medical ethics.”

Fuck you, you fucking assholes. It's not your body so just shut the fuck up, you fucking hypocrites, with your bullshit 'right to life' in the womb, but all bets are off once it's outside of the womb.

Fuck you, Ron Paul.

And your real preference is for continued war, drug war and the latest NDAA.

You haven't started 50 threads to attack Romney, Gingrich or Santorum.

You must think Ron Paul is worse.

Do you care to argue that these other Republicans are less racist? Because that's a hilarious proposition!

Gingrich didn't publish racist rhetoric in newsletters 20 years ago, he's been publishing racist books for the last 20 years. Santorum just disavowed giving help to black, um "blah" people! Romney wants to get that "tar baby." They're all in the party that has pandered to racism as its presidential strategy since 1968. The only difference is that Paul's politics might release hundreds of thousands of prisoners of the drug war - most of them people of color.

The most important differences between Paul and the other Republicans are the issues on which Paul also disagrees with Obama, the issues on which Obama agrees with Romney/Santorum/Gingrich: to maintain drug prohibition and drug war, to give a legal framework for indefinite preventive detention of citizens without legal counsel, to maintain 800+ military bases and military spending that eats half the discretionary budget and is greater than at least "the next 10 nations combined" (in Obama's words!).

The daily exorcism of Ron Paul is a device with which you beat up on liberals and leftists (who don't support Paul's candidacy) for not agreeing with Obama (and also Romney/Santorum/Gingrich) on these matters.

This is one of many such threads that falsely claim "liberals" support RP and single him out as a special evil among the Republicans.

These aren't "anti-RP things."

These are pro-war, pro-drug war and pro-NDAA things disguised as anti-RP things.

As of this posting, I see no such claims, anywhere, neither in the OP or in the responses.

However, I do see a claim that ones preference is "obviously for Romney, Gingrich or Santorum." And that, indeed, ones "real preference is for continued war, drug war and the latest NDAA."

Interestingly, this comes under the auspices of not starting "50 threads to attack Romney, Gingrich or Santorum." A real laugh, there.
