...but that does not mean I would vote for her for President.
I am glad she is part of the Select Committee. I cannot wait to see her during the public hearings. Donald Trump will be in tears by the time she gets thru with him.

(7,820 posts)She threw her own sister under the bus for political expediency. I think she thinks this is the play and hey, its good for us *and* the right thing to do, so Ill absolutely take it. Do I trust her, though? Not a chance.

(269 posts)but I would never trust her, alone in a dark alley, after leaving a casino. My take on her is "what the hell do you mean Trump this my party!" "oops and my dads, of course."

Those who know me know I had some experience (professionally and very early in my career) with Dick decades ago (well before the vice-Presidency) that left me stunned and forever opposed to him in every way possible. I've transferred that intense disdain and distrust to Liz on everything EXCEPT what she is doing right now. On this one large issue, she's earned my respect. Dick Cheney's letter with the other former Defense Secretaries calling for the military to stand firm against Trump's attempts to use them to keep him in the WH or related acts in opposition to their oath, is likewise admirable. The Cheneys' one "positive" is that they do believe in the constitution. And this clear-eyed cynic believes fully that that is the motivation on this issue.

(9,500 posts)Trump represents a newer, brash, economic elite while Liz represents the old school WASPs. The latter at least believes in looking like a democracy, and each group wants to call the shots.

(6,207 posts)I never thought I would see her as an ally in the fight to preserve the Republic, but then I never thought that nearly every Republican Senator and Representative would stand against the Republic.
When it comes to rallying around the flag, I'll take anyone who stands with me as a friend.

(111,110 posts)It can't be easy standing up to her entire Party. I give her a lot of credit.

(6,207 posts)She stands for what the Republicans used to stand for; the Constitution and the rule of law.
She has courage, and will fight for the Republic.
