"SNIP......

A new Generation Lab/Axios poll finds that nearly a quarter of college students wouldn’t be friends with someone who voted for the other presidential candidate — with Democrats far more likely to dismiss people than Republicans.

Also interesting: 5% of Republicans said they wouldn’t be friends with someone from the opposite party, compared to 37% of Democrats.

......SNIP"

Republicans and Democrats.

Why would you want to be friends with someone who wants you dead simply for holding beliefs that human beings should be treated as such and that people who aren't white, straight, and male are still, you know, people?

Why would you want to be friends with someone who believes that the election was won by that horrible orange thing?

About time to take ownership. I noticed a heightened level of political comments....and none of the were conservative in formulation. I kinda think the vast majority are smart enough to know which party represents there interests.....now what are they going to do to protect OUR vote?

We need to learn from each other to successfully get things done. Don’t get me wrong.. I despise their policies n totally disagree but nothing will be accomplished if we cannot reach some kind of common ground. We’ll never get BBB, other reforms if we come to the table with ..o, wait..we can’t even get to the table despising each other.

There is no argument for "civility" or "understanding" which would induce me to be friends with people who enable and idolize moral monsters.

I'm in my early fifties and can not have any relationship with people who voted for Trump, especially if they did so in 2020 after four years of that.

This tells me right away what their values are , no matter how nice they may appear outwardly.

GQP is the party of taking bribes to do all they can to help the very rich (whites) get much richer and doing little or nothing else. Unless a young person is in line to inherit a fortune--like TFG--survival in such a grotesquely unequal economy can be tough. Some of us predicted that's where things were headed in Reagan's 1980s with his union busting, "big gubment" bashing, neoliberal globalization including offshoring, etc.

Glad some young people are paying attention with eyes wide open.

and it's not just different ethical values

I've found many conservatives to be cruel, selfish, arrogant, and intolerant.

It is a personality type. It is not a pleasant personality type to most of us.

It is a personality type that I don't want to stand in line behind at the supermarket, much less invite into my home.

there’s some evidence that suggest millennials are keeping their liberal views as they enter their 40s. That’s in contrast to previous generations which became more conservative as they grew older. Given that voter participation goes up as people age, we’ll see soon enough if it’s enough to help us in elections.

I've been told by many right wing relatives. Oh by the time you are in your thirties, you'll wake up and be more conservative. I musta done a gotcha since I'm 31 and still extremely progressive, oh and trans on top of it. I did a total reversal and they all fucking despise me now.

The Republicans have crossed so many lines now I don't want to associate with their voters either. I have to question either the character or the intelligence (or both) of someone who would vote for that, so, not surprising some young folks are seeing it too.

after a lifetime of dealing with these fascist pigs, I despise them a hundred times more.

Everything they do is evil. They have done nothing that is good during my lifetime. The Republican agenda is, and always has been, unspeakably wicked.

That is all.
