Wish cable companies had gift cards... Or a way to help someone

pay their bill directly. My mom told me that she dropped the tennis channel which she loved, just to save money.

Since cable companies are losing so much business to all the streaming services, this could be a good money maker for them in my humble opinion.

1. With my parents, I was able to call their utility company and set up for me to pay the bill.

I had to snatch one of their bills though to get the account number!

But I just set it up then to go to my checking account instead of theirs.

I'm not sure they ever knew!

I have noticed that the cable company (Cox) has the highest security level ever. You would think it was Fort Knox or something.

Imagine I could just send the cable company checks each month with her account number. But I could see it now that would freak her out. She wouldn't be able to understand why her bill was so low. It would be better to tell her that I bought something she couldn't reverse somehow LOL

Surely they see the writing on the wall as their customers dwindle. Instead of current plan - keep upping bills.

And you're right what is an elderly person need with cartoon networks LOL

And it's so sad to see seniors on fixed income deal with it. Have memories of last Xmas, sitting in the cable company waiting room with other children of elderly parents. Met some people who were returning cable equipment because they had set up streaming services for their mom during Christmas. Of course she needed internet and they were telling me how the cable company raises the internet fee if you drop TV.

That’s part of Biden’s infrastructure bill.

Free cable for anyone over 70.

It was for $8.93. Yee ha

So I just spent 45 minutes of my life that I will never get back talking to my mom's cable company. Going through the automated menus, getting transferred twice. Etc etc. Sure, I can set up an automatic payment from my account toward the bill. But the catch is that I can only pay the entire balance. Not a portion. They did say I could call and get them to fix it. I would rather stick needles in my eyes than to have to call them every month.

Bottom line have two options I can call the cable company every month and pay something. Or I can send the money to my mother.

No good option. Oh well
