There are a million examples of how the media frames everything with a "both sides do it" moniker.
Just one example would be; "yes, a major political party just tried to violently overthrow American democracy, but look at how the Democrats are struggling to get their agenda passed"
See "Butter-Emails" as another example, but the PERFECT one, the one that cuts through all the "ahem, but, but, buts" that Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell can muster out of their sanctimonious pieholes, the one example that slaps you in the face with a crystalline purity, is the recent, tragic, devastating destruction of the Kentucky December 2021 super tornado.
Here is what the message should be...
Not ONE SINGLE Democratic Congressperson, not ONE SINGLE Democratic Senator, not ONE SINGLE Biden Cabinet Member, not ONE SINGLE Democratic President, or ONE SINGLE Democratic Vice President would VOTE AGAINST, or ADVOCATE AGAINST disaster relief for the people of Kentucky..
NOT ONE!!!!!
Not AOC. NOT Ilhan Omar. Not one member derisively smeared as "the Squad". Not Joe Manchin. Not Kristine Cinema. Not Bernie Sanders.
NOT ONE SINGLE Democrat would vote to not help the people of Kentucky. NOT ONE!!!!
No Democrat is going to dismissively joke that we should "send them rakes".
Rand Paul, who is one of the first Senators to ask for...no...DEMAND help for Kentucky, has made an Army out of his cheering and adoring fans, laughing and applauding his votes against Californians devastated by wildfires and New Yorkers devastated by massive floods.
See, the difference is decency.
Now, I'm not saying there are no decent people in the Retrumplican Party, but I am saying there is a shit ton of indecency in that party, and an even larger amount of tolerance for indecency in that party.
So the next time you hear the media "both-sidering" the crap out of our Democracy, remember that one big difference is Cruelty.

(15,334 posts)They'd attach this disaster relief to legislation they want to enact.
You will never seen Senator Schumer include this disaster relief in the Voting Rights Act and the Build Back Better plan.
Maybe he should.

(12,412 posts)Congress should take the aid to Kentucky out of his salary.
Maybe a campaign sending rakes to his office would send a message.
The Magistrate
(95,248 posts)And I know this cannot really be done.
I would like to see not one dime of relief to Kentucky, but rather months of air time purchased on every little AM talk station, every little local tee-vee shop, and billboards up everywhere, delivering approximately this message:
Go bitch for help to Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell. You voted for them. You get help when you vote these shit-stains out of office, and not one second before. They say 'fuck you' to the whole country every day, and you seem to like it. Well, eat this, boyo, back at ya from the whole damn country. Fuck you.

(15,334 posts)What a great, short, simple and incredible statement. I would like to steal this.
It reminds me of one of my favorite lessons from my military service.
"You don't get what you expect, you get what you inspect"
You can't expect folks to do the right thing, you inspect and demand that they do

(1,062 posts)My pet peeve is they say both sides do gerrymandering. Which side has succeeded in distorting the outcome of voting to not represent the people? How can Dems not gerrymander where they can, while Republicans are stealing state legislatures and US congressmen in all the swing states. Who would do just fine if gerrymandering ended altogether?

(15,334 posts)and posting "fuck Kentucky". They're about a relevant as a flea farting in a hurricane.
Fortunately, those folks don't represent the Democratic Party.
No elected Democrat would be so cruel as to vote against disaster relief for the Americans devastated by these storms. We, as Democratic voters, wouldn't allow it.
Retrumplicans wear their cruelty like a badge of honor, and their voters reward them. The crueler they are, they more motivated their voters are.
It's one of the reasons I have cut so many Retrumplicans voters out of my life.

(12,545 posts)In many cases it's rooted in small man parts, hence the gun fetish. Remember that jerkoff who said "When do we get to use the guns?" Anyone who gets pleasure from the suffering of others has serious mental issues that are most likely covered by Obamacare.
May I suggest electric shock therapy as in a collar that shocks them when they're exposed to their chosen stimuli of seeing or hearing the suffering of others.

When we combine any or all of those with an inherited dose of psychopathy, we have the core ingredients for a Republican. A bad environment as a child seems to be a norm as well.
Cruelty automatically comes from the recipe above.
