Boeing announced Friday that it will suspend the company's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for U.S. employees.
The aircraft manufacturer said in an internal memo that it made the decision after a federal appeals court last month upheld its stay on President Biden's vaccine mandate for companies with at least 100 employees, Reuters reported.
The number of Boeing employees who have sought a vaccine exemption for medical or religious reasons has surged to more than 11,000 people, which is almost 9 percent of its U.S. workers, according to Reuters. The company's vaccine mandate has also resulted in 92 percent of their employees in the U.S. having received the vaccine or having reported a religious or medical accommodation.
"The success of Boeing's vaccination requirement to date positions the company well to comply with the federal executive order should it be reinstated in the future," the company's internal memo said, Reuters reported.

Now that the stay is lifted I wonder what they're going to do?

(16,315 posts)This thinking process is maddening to me. We have a pandemic and various strains all the time n they keep lifting one of the ways for protection.. mask. Wash hands frequently. Get vaxxed, Boosters. Its so damn easy n were going into another year of this. O, people are tired of it.. so am I, dammit. If we had this population during WWII.. I hate to think that determination only lasted until we got tired of it all and where would we be? And while Im at it.. over 800,000 souls lost in this country. Arent people tired of that? Go ahead n zap me but.. some people are just pathetic, soft n selfish putting the rest of us in harms way. I just cannot understand it.

(20,881 posts)I got vaccination rates in the places the mandates could affect over 90 percent in most places. I think the government is happy with the result. They will fight these legal efforts because the power to do these mandates should be preserved. And of course because boosters maybe needed.

You would think after killing over 300 people and paying out billions, we would have learned your lesson and put people over profits.
